The construction and installation of the auxiliary well tower, auxiliary well loading shaft system, control signal equipment and communication for the +35/-500 auxiliary vertical well was started in July 2024. After more than 7 months of construction, the project is now accelerating the final stages of completion, striving to put into operation by mid-March 2025.
The project of installing the auxiliary shaft tower, auxiliary shaft loading system, control signal equipment and communication of the +35/-500 vertical shaft of the Khe Cham II-IV Underground Mining Project (Ha Long Coal Company) has a total investment of more than 500 billion VND. This is a key project recognized by the Party Committee of the Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group as a project to welcome the 4th Congress of the Group's Party Committee, term 2025-2030. In particular, the auxiliary shaft loading system has a scale of installing a 4-storey cage travel system with a capacity of 160 people/trip. The transport load reaches 21,000 kg/trip. This is a groundbreaking project in applying mechanization, improving travel conditions for workers working in the mine.
Khe Cham II-IV Underground Mining Project has a coal mining area at a depth of -500 meters. To reach these production areas, currently, workers of Ha Long Coal Company mainly travel by cable car and cable winch systems. The average travel time of workers is 60 minutes. The implementation of the construction and installation of auxiliary well towers, auxiliary well loading shaft systems, control signal equipment and communication equipment for +35/-500 vertical wells when put into operation will improve the conditions for traveling and transporting equipment of Khe Cham II-IV Underground Mining Project in large quantities, quickly and safely; ensuring the criteria of clean mines, safe mines, modern mines, mines with few people, and mines with high productivity.
Miner Nguyen Van Hoi, Mining Workshop 11, Ha Long Coal Company, shared: In conditions of increasingly deep mining, workers' travel to production areas will take more time and be more difficult. We are very happy that the Company has invested in a timely auxiliary shaft loading system. This is truly a useful project that helps workers reduce the hardship of having to walk from the deep mine face to the surface of the well after each production shift. With this means of transport, we will save a lot of time, effort and maintain health, creating conditions to improve labor productivity in each shift.
To ensure the progress and implementation of the construction and installation process, Ha Long Coal Company has coordinated with the construction unit to closely monitor each item. Especially after the Lunar New Year, Ha Long Coal Company has requested the contractor to mobilize maximum human resources and machinery to speed up the construction progress. According to Ha Long Coal's report, the construction progress of this project has reached 90%. In particular, many items of the package have been basically completed, such as: Hoist house, installation of electric power system, installation of hoist machine, installation of well tower.
Currently, the contractor is continuing to focus on installing the main winch system including a 4-storey cage, laying steel cables, installing tail cables down to -500 level; removing the operating floor, connecting and completing the guide bars in the well and on the well tower; installing the signal, control and communication systems at -350 and +35 levels; completing the well cover; installing the lighting system for the winch house, tower house... It is expected that by early March 2025, the project will put the auxiliary well loading shaft system into interlocking operation with load for inspection; in mid-March 2025, the project will be licensed to put into operation.
After the auxiliary shaft is put into stable operation, it will help shorten the travel time from the +35 level to the -350 platform by 40 to 60 minutes compared to traveling by cable car winch system, song loan..., increasing the useful working time in the mine mirrors, thereby contributing to increasing labor productivity by 15-20%. In particular, putting this project into operation in 2025 will help Ha Long Coal improve its transportation capacity, meeting the needs of production. This project will create a step-by-step mark to help Ha Long Coal Company bring the Khe Cham II-IV Underground Mining Project to a design capacity of 3.5 million tons by 2028, contributing to the implementation of the goal of "Safety - Development - Efficiency" of the Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group.
