This afternoon, April 23, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Duc Tien and leaders of relevant departments, branches and localities inspected the site, directed the removal of obstacles, and accelerated the progress of site clearance (GPMB) to implement the Quang Tri Airport project.

Inspecting the scene, Chairman of the District People's Committee Vo Dac Hoa said that the Quang Tri Airport project has 743 plots of land recovered for project implementation, with a total area of 265.73 hectares, of which 35 households in Gio Mai and Gio Quang communes must be resettled.
Currently, the work of land measurement, land acquisition and inventory has been basically completed. In addition, the consulting unit is conducting specific land valuation for the entire project area to submit to competent authorities for approval according to regulations. It is expected that in April 2024, Gio Linh district will complete the handover of phase 1 of 20.25 hectares; in May 2024, it is expected to complete the handover of 115.3 hectares of land clearance and by the end of December 2024, the remaining area of about 129.812 hectares will be handed over.
Currently, Gio Linh District People's Committee is coordinating with Quang Tri Center for Investigation, Planning and Design of Agriculture and Forestry to establish procedures to convert forest land use purposes for Gio Quang cemetery and Gio Hai cemetery. However, up to now, the center has not responded, coordinated, or guided related procedures for the district to implement the conversion of forest use purposes for about 4.12 hectares of affected forest.
Therefore, it is recommended that the Provincial People's Committee and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development direct the Quang Tri Center for Agricultural and Forestry Investigation, Planning and Design to pay attention, coordinate, and guide procedures so that the district has a basis for implementation.
It is recommended that the Provincial People's Committee soon issue a document assigning tasks to the Gio Linh District People's Committee on increasing the density of markers to serve the site clearance work within the area of 135.56 hectares and serve as a basis for establishing tasks and additional estimates for this area, because the site clearance area of 265.372 hectares to implement the project has been established according to prescribed norms.
Vice Chairman of the People's Committee Le Duc Tien requested Gio Linh district and relevant sectors to seriously implement the previous directives of the Provincial Steering Committee for Site Clearance. In the immediate future, human resources will be focused on site clearance for 136 hectares (including 21 houses, 269 graves, 2 schools and 1 family church) in Gio Mai commune. In particular, it is necessary to step up advocacy and propaganda work to create consensus and support from the people.
Prioritize land for relocation of mausoleums. Speed up resettlement for households, focus on decentralized resettlement plans, and apply legal regulations that are most beneficial to the people, including temporary housing support policies, to keep up with project commencement progress.
