Mobilizing equipment and human resources to speed up construction of My Thuy seaport
According to the reporter of Giao thong Newspaper, in late June 2024, the My Thuy seaport project in Hai Lang district, Dong Nam Quang Tri Economic Zone (Quang Tri province) was mobilized by the contractor to build a construction site, cast concrete structures and start construction of the breakwater embankment after 1 month of construction.

The compensation and support plan for the first phase of the project has been approved by the Hai Lang District People's Committee for the area of 125.49 hectares. The remaining 8.18 hectares are expected to be completed before July 15.
According to the Quang Tri Economic Zone Management Board, up to now, the My Thuy port project has completed detailed construction planning procedures, planning, land use plans, approved the project feasibility study report, approved the technical design for construction, handed over the sea area, granted a construction permit for the first phase of about 320m of breakwater items, completed procedures to remove the project from the national mineral reserve area, and converted the purpose of forest use.
The plan to dredge the water area and turning basin has been agreed upon by the Ministry of Transport.
Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Hung said that the Provincial People's Committee has just issued a document on launching a peak period to speed up the implementation of key projects in the province.

For the My Thuy port project, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province requested to focus on completing the first phase of site clearance as soon as possible; requested the Provincial Economic Zone Management Board to report weekly on the project implementation results to the Steering Committee for the My Thuy port project implementation to grasp the situation for urgent and drastic direction.
In addition, the Provincial Economic Zone Management Board must assign staff to regularly monitor the construction site to urge and direct the investor My Thuy International Port Joint Venture Joint Stock Company (MTIP) to mobilize equipment, vehicles, human resources, materials, and take advantage of favorable weather to focus all efforts on accelerating the construction of the main items, the southern breakwater embankment phase 1 to be completed before September 30; and organize the construction of wharf No. 1 before June 30.
The My Thuy Port Project has been approved by the Prime Minister in principle for investment, with the goal of investing in the construction and business of a specialized port area serving industrial establishments in the Southeast Quang Tri Economic Zone, industrial parks in Quang Tri province, combined with attracting transit goods for Laos and Northeast Thailand on the East-West Economic Corridor; ensuring the reception of ships with a tonnage of up to 100,000 tons.

The project has a total land and water surface area of about 685 hectares, including 10 wharves and is divided into 3 investment phases. The total investment capital of the project is 14,234 billion VND. In phase 1 to 2025, 4 wharves will be invested, with a total investment capital of 4,946 billion VND.
The project was started by the investor on February 27, 2020, however, due to some difficulties in disbursing investment capital from foreign partners. Procedures for site clearance, conversion of forest land use purposes, etc. encountered difficulties, so the project implementation was temporarily suspended.
On March 25, the project was restarted with a construction launch ceremony.

Quang Tri Airport Project ready for groundbreaking ceremony
At the Quang Tri Airport project , Mr. Vo Dac Hoa, Chairman of Gio Linh District People's Committee, said that the district is focusing on site clearance to implement the project, starting the project in early July 2024.
On the cleared area in Gio Quang commune, the investor is also completing the site and related work, ready for the project groundbreaking ceremony to be held on July 6.
According to Mr. Vo Dac Hoa, to speed up the progress of site clearance and hand over the clean site to the construction unit on schedule, the District People's Committee has organized a ceremony to launch the peak campaign of site clearance and handover, with many synchronous and focused solutions.
Currently, in Gio Quang commune alone, with the support of 100 soldiers, local forces support households affected by the project to saw and clear trees, and conduct site clearance for construction. Up to now, more than 103 hectares have been cleared.
Preparations are underway at the site where the groundbreaking ceremony for the Quang Tri Airport project will take place.
The District Land Acquisition Council has also paid the first compensation to 76 households affected by the project with an amount of more than 28.6 billion VND.
On June 21, the District People's Committee issued a decision to reclaim land and approved the third compensation plan for 8 subjects and reclaimed 7.6 hectares of production forest land (including 3 households with land compensation and 5 households with trees compensation) with an amount of 1.5 billion VND.
In addition, actively coordinate with investors to level the ground for the groundbreaking ceremony, and clear land for construction of public service roads to the groundbreaking and construction areas.
"Implementing the decision of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province on assigning the task of the investor of the project of land acquisition and clearance for the construction of Quang Tri Airport phase 1, the People's Committee of Gio Linh district is currently focusing on implementing the land acquisition and clearance work to hand over the site on schedule," said the leader of the People's Committee of Gio Linh district.

The affected tombs at the project are also being relocated to new locations by local people.
On June 26, Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Hung and Vice Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee Le Duc Tien also inspected and urged the progress of the My Thuy port project, site preparation and related conditions to start the Quang Tri Airport project.
The Prime Minister has approved the investment policy for the Quang Tri Airport construction investment project in Gio Quang, Gio Mai and Gio Hai communes of Gio Linh district, Quang Tri province under the public-private partnership (PPP) model.
The project includes component project 1 (Ground clearance and construction of state agencies at the airport) implemented in the form of public investment and component project 2 (Construction of the airport) implemented in the form of PPP, Build - Operate - Transfer (BOT) contract.
In November 2023, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province signed a decision approving the results of selecting investors to implement Component Project 2 - Construction of an airport under the investment project to build Quang Tri Airport under the PPP method.
Accordingly, the winning investor to implement Component Project 2 under the PPP method is the consortium of T&T Transport Infrastructure Investment and Development Company Limited - CIENCO4 Group Joint Stock Company.
On December 15, 2023, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province coordinated with the investor consortium to organize the Kick-off Ceremony of the Quang Tri Airport Project. On December 29, 2023, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province decided to approve the feasibility study report of the Project for Site Clearance and Construction of Quang Tri Airport Phase 1.
