Mr. Trinh Quoc Vu, Deputy Director of the Department of Energy Saving and Sustainable Development, Ministry of Industry and Trade, said that Vietnam is a country with a rapidly growing economy with an annual economic growth rate of 6-7% in recent decades.
In the period of 2020-2023, despite the complicated fluctuations in the world economic and political situation, Vietnam's economy has recovered and developed positively compared to many economies in the world. Accordingly, Vietnam's energy and electricity demand in the coming years is forecast to continue to increase rapidly to meet the needs of the economy and people.
In that context, the work of using energy economically and efficiently is necessary and important. This has been a consistent policy of the Party and the State for many years. On June 8, 2023, the Prime Minister issued Directive No. 20 on implementing electricity saving in the 2023-2025 period. In particular, on February 14, 2024, the Prime Minister issued Directive 05 on ensuring the supply of electricity, coal, oil and gas to ensure electricity for 2024. In the 12 major groups of solutions, the Prime Minister emphasized the role of electricity saving, economical and efficient use of energy.
Based on the close instructions of the Prime Minister and the Government, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has determined to focus on promoting energy saving. Considering the economical and efficient use of energy as an important and urgent issue, contributing to ensuring sufficient power supply for economic development and social life in the short term as well as in the long term.
Mr. Trinh Quoc Vu, Deputy Director of the Department of Energy Saving and Sustainable Development, Ministry of Industry and Trade, shared at the seminar. |
To achieve the set goals, the National Program on Energy Efficiency and Conservation for the 2019-2030 period identifies communication to raise public awareness of energy efficiency and conservation as an important task. In particular, there is a role for press and media agencies, with journalists and reporters across the country as the core.
In recent years, with the participation of press and media agencies, activities on using energy economically and efficiently have had a strong influence, helping the community turn awareness into action, from action to habit.
Mr. Vu hopes that, through his writing, journalists and reporters will help propagate and popularize the Party and State's policies and guidelines on economical and efficient energy use. Discover advanced models and initiatives in economical and efficient energy use. Reflect the difficulties and challenges in implementing economical and efficient energy use.
From these articles and information, it helps the authorities, especially the Ministry of Industry and Trade, advise the Government as well as competent authorities to issue and adjust policies to further promote the use of energy saving and efficiency.
The Department of Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Development, Ministry of Industry and Trade, in collaboration with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), is implementing the Vietnam Low Emission Energy Program II (VLEEP II). With support from USAID, a Sustainable Energy Communication Strategy for the period up to 2030 has been developed.
Mr. Vu said that in the coming time, the Department will regularly organize seminars and training sessions to disseminate policies, guidelines, implementation directions and solutions on energy saving and efficiency to reporters and journalists.
At the seminar, journalists also shared their working experiences in the field of energy saving and efficiency; proposed a number of solutions to further improve the quality of communication in this field, in order to spread the message of energy saving and efficiency for sustainable development, achieving the results of the VNEEP3 Program.
