In order to achieve the goal of gender equality, in recent years, the Party Committee and the government of Thanh Son district have implemented many practical activities to create conditions for women to rise up, affirm their roles and positions in various fields, contributing to raising awareness and changing behaviors regarding gender equality work.

The Committee for the Advancement of Women in Thanh Son District has issued and effectively implemented the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, national programs on gender equality, action programs on female cadre work and gender equality activities, for the advancement of women. Proactively integrating target programs of gender activities into socio-economic development plans, creating conditions for women to promote their capacity and strengths.

Comrade Nguyen Quang Hai - Head of the District Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs said: Every year, the Department has advised the district to implement gender equality work. Thereby, female cadres have been given attention and arranged to participate in state management positions, participating in organizations from the district to the grassroots level. The rate of female workers receiving training, female cadres and civil servants receiving training in politics, administration, information technology and foreign languages ​​is increasing; the rate of illiteracy and dropout among girls in remote, isolated and extremely disadvantaged communes has decreased significantly; material and spiritual life, opportunities and jobs for women have received more attention...

The district has promoted the dissemination of policies and laws on gender equality to all levels, sectors and classes of people through integrating gender equality education into residential meetings, club activities, through the loudspeaker system, distributing documents and leaflets; organizing competitions and talks on gender equality. Regularly organizing training courses on gender equality and domestic violence prevention for staff and reporters, helping them improve their skills, knowledge and ability to integrate gender policies into local socio-economic development programs.

The district also focuses on reducing gender gaps in the fields of economy, labor, employment, and increasing access for women, especially poor women in rural areas and ethnic minority women. The district coordinates with departments, branches, and sectors to organize training courses to improve capacity for female cadres in vocational training and job creation; promote activities to connect, introduce, and consume products from livelihood models produced by women associated with the OCOP Program in the district; connect and help women access preferential loans from the Social Policy Bank with over 100 billion VND for nearly 2,500 women to borrow; 240 million VND for 38 women to borrow from the Women's Start-up Support Fund, 740 women to borrow from the TYM Fund capital of over 10 billion VND to buy plants, seeds, production materials, invest in economic development, escape poverty, and improve the quality of life.

The district has promoted the dissemination of the Law on Gender Equality, the Law on Prevention and Control of Domestic Violence and education on family ethics and lifestyle for communes and towns. Comrade Lo Thi Quynh Nga - Chairwoman of the District Women's Union shared: The district has established and maintained clubs and groups on gender equality, prevention and control of domestic violence, and enhancing the role of women. Up to now, 41 community communication teams have been established in 14 communes with 287 members, 239 trusted addresses in residential areas, 7 "Leaders of Change" Clubs... From the activities of models and clubs, people have the right awareness of the role, responsibilities and rights, affirming the position of women, limiting domestic violence, contributing to improving the cultural and spiritual life of women.

In the coming time, the district will continue to integrate gender equality contents into programs and plans of agencies and units; promote propaganda and effectively implement the Law on Gender Equality; strengthen solutions to create conditions for women to maximize their role and ability to contribute to society; pay attention to planning, training, fostering, and improving professional qualifications for female cadres; implement many activities to reduce gender gaps in the fields of economy and labor, and build equal, prosperous, progressive, and happy families.
