In pursuit of gender equality, over the years, the Party Committee and government of Thanh Son district have implemented many practical activities to create conditions for women to rise up and affirm their role and position in various fields, contributing to raising awareness and changing behavior regarding gender equality.
The "Leaders of Change" club held a thematic session on gender equality at Tan Minh Secondary School, Tan Minh commune, Thanh Son district.
The Thanh Son District Committee for the Advancement of Women has effectively issued and implemented the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws and regulations, national programs on gender equality, action programs on female cadres and gender equality activities, and the advancement of women. It has proactively integrated targeted gender-related programs into socio-economic development plans, creating conditions for women to develop their abilities and strengths.
Comrade Nguyen Quang Hai - Head of the Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs Department of the district, said: Every year, the Department has advised the district on the implementation of gender equality work. As a result, female cadres have been given attention in being assigned and arranged to participate in state management positions and in mass organizations from the district to the grassroots level. The percentage of female workers receiving training, and female cadres and civil servants receiving training in politics , administration, information technology and foreign languages, is increasing; the illiteracy rate and school dropout rate among girls in remote, disadvantaged and particularly difficult areas have decreased significantly; and the material and spiritual lives, opportunities and employment for women are receiving more attention...
The district has intensified its efforts to disseminate policies, laws, and regulations on gender equality to all levels, sectors, and segments of the population through integrating gender equality education into community meetings, club activities, public address systems, and the distribution of documents and leaflets; organizing competitions and discussions on gender equality; and regularly organizing training courses on gender equality and domestic violence prevention for officials and speakers, helping them improve their skills, knowledge, and ability to integrate gender policies into local socio-economic development programs.
The district also focuses on reducing the gender gap in the economic, labor, and employment sectors, enhancing access for women, especially poor rural women and ethnic minority women. The district collaborates with departments and agencies to organize training to improve the capacity of female officials in vocational training and job placement; promotes activities to connect, introduce, and market products from livelihood models produced by women in conjunction with the OCOP program in the district; connects and helps women access preferential loan sources from the Social Policy Bank with over 100 billion VND for nearly 2,500 women; provides 240 million VND for 38 women from the Women's Entrepreneurship Support Fund; and helps 740 women access over 10 billion VND from the TYM Fund to purchase seedlings, livestock, production materials, invest in economic development, escape poverty, and improve their quality of life.
The district is stepping up its efforts to disseminate information about the Law on Gender Equality, the Law on Prevention and Control of Domestic Violence, and to educate on family ethics and lifestyles in communes and towns. Ms. Lo Thi Quynh Nga, Chairwoman of the District Women's Union, shared: The district has established and maintained clubs and groups on gender equality, prevention and control of domestic violence, and enhancing the role of women. To date, 41 community communication teams have been established in 14 communes with 287 members, 239 trusted addresses in residential areas, and 7 "Leaders of Change" clubs... Through the activities of these models and clubs, people have gained a correct understanding of the roles, responsibilities, and rights of women, affirming their status, reducing domestic violence, and contributing to improving the cultural and spiritual lives of women.
In the coming period, the district will continue to integrate gender equality content into the programs and plans of agencies and units; promote the dissemination and effective implementation of the Law on Gender Equality; strengthen measures to create conditions for women to maximize their roles and contributions to society; pay attention to planning, training, and professional development for female officials; and implement various activities to reduce the gender gap in the economic and labor sectors, and build equal, prosperous, progressive, and happy families.
