Previously, when coming to Son La, tourists mainly participated in itineraries to explore places and people in districts, towns and cities. However, Son La province now has many new ways and suitable solutions to promote and introduce to tourists famous places associated with local flower seasons and flower festivals.
Notable among them are the white mustard flower, plum flower, and peach flower seasons in Van Ho district, Moc Chau town, and Son La city; the hawthorn and azalea flower seasons in Ngoc Chien commune, Muong La district, etc.
When talking about tourism associated with the flower season in Son La, it is impossible not to mention the Ban flowers and unique festivals imbued with the identity of the ethnic groups in the Northwest region. Every March, along with the brilliant colors of azaleas, hawthorns, and wind chimes... on all the mountain slopes, communes, villages, main roads of districts, towns, and cities of Son La, you can see the Ban flowers blooming everywhere.
This is the time in Son La where many cultural and tourism activities take place in association with the Son La city ban flower festival. Mr. Tran Cong Chinh, Vice Chairman of the Son La City People's Committee, said: In order to introduce and promote the cultural beauty, typical agricultural products, potential and tourism strengths of the city to visitors from near and far, the city has established a steering committee, assigned tasks to units, communes and wards to organize the ban flower festival; promote communication and promotion to domestic and foreign visitors.
At the same time, direct facilities and units to prepare conditions to welcome tourists. Plum blossom is a typical flower of Moc Chau town and Son La city, known to many tourists. With thousands of hectares of plum, when spring comes, plum gardens bloom white on the mountains and forests, creating a fairy-tale scene, attracting millions of tourists to visit.
Ms. Nguyen Thuy Hien from Hanoi said: I learned about Son La tourism and the beauty of plum, peach and ban flowers here through newspapers and social networks. In mid-March, my family went to Son La city to visit friends and participate in the ban flower festival, capturing beautiful moments.
Experiencing the Ban flower festival, I understand more about the unique culture of the Thai ethnic group. Next year, we plan to attend the Hawthorn flower festival... According to Vice Chairwoman of Moc Chau Town People's Committee Nguyen Thi Hoa, the town always focuses on diversifying tourism types, preserving natural landscapes, developing typical flowers of Moc Chau plateau; regularly directing departments, offices, and establishments to strengthen inspection and supervision of receiving tourists, avoiding increasing room rates on holidays, Tet or during tourist season.
“Every time there are many tourists, especially during the flower seasons, Moc Chau prepares several months in advance to ensure the most favorable conditions for tourists…”, Ms. Hoa affirmed.
Recently, Ngoc Chien commune has become more known to tourists for its hawthorn and azalea flower festivals. Nam Nghep village is located at an altitude of 2,000-2,500 m above sea level, 100% of the village's residents are H'Mong ethnic people.
This place is considered the capital of hawthorn trees, with a total area of about 1,600 hectares. Ngoc Chien tourism has been developing, leaving a strong impression in the hearts of visitors.
Along with increasing investment attraction, promoting communication and tourism promotion associated with flower seasons, Son La province has many programs and plans to direct departments, branches and sectors to coordinate with districts, towns and cities in upgrading and developing typical tourism products associated with flower seasons, suitable for natural and cultural conditions in tourist areas and spots.
Functional units have built tourist areas, spots, and community tourism villages associated with planting and planning flowers, contributing to creating unique local tourism products.
