On the morning of December 19, at Gia Lam Airport (Hanoi), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the opening ceremony of the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024 (Vietnam Defense Expo 2024) with the message "Peace - Friendship - Cooperation - Mutual Development" organized by the Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024), 35 years of National Defense Day (December 22, 1989 - December 22, 2024).
Also attending were Politburo members: Nguyen Hoa Binh, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister; General Phan Van Giang, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense; General Luong Tam Quang, Secretary of the Central Public Security Party Committee, Minister of Public Security; Senior Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army; Party Central Committee members: Bui Thanh Son, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Tran Quang Phuong, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly; representatives of leaders of ministries, branches, central agencies; officials of the Government, Ministries of National Defense of several countries; diplomatic agencies; international defense industry enterprises.
The Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024 with the participation of 66 international delegations and more than 240 defense industry enterprises from 49 countries also shows the prestige and brand in organizing defense exhibitions of Vietnam.
The exhibition contributes to strengthening international cooperation in the defense industry, diversifying cooperation channels for purchasing, receiving, and transferring technology to produce technical equipment and logistics equipment to meet the requirements of the armed forces; it is also an opportunity to learn about the development trends of weapons and technical equipment in the world to propose, select, purchase, produce, and improve weapons and equipment for the army; promote and propagate the capacity, technological potential, and weapons and equipment produced by the Vietnam Defense Industry to international friends and domestic people; and seek opportunities to export defense industry products.
On the sidelines of the event, there will be bilateral contact activities, cultural and artistic performances according to the program, especially there will be an exchange program between ASEAN military bands.
Within the framework of the exhibition, there is a seminar program on the topics: "High-tech weapons and equipment; unmanned equipment - Applications in current and future military operations"; Defense industry cooperation, Vietnam and other countries (Vietnam-United Kingdom, Vietnam-United States, Vietnam-Russian Federation, Vietnam-Japan, Vietnam-Korea, Vietnam-India)...
At the exhibition, domestic and international defense enterprises displayed and introduced combat vehicles, technological solutions, weapons, and equipment for the Navy, Army, Air Defense-Air Force, cyber warfare, and logistics and technical equipment.
Vietnamese products displayed and introduced at the exhibition include products researched and manufactured by agencies and units of the Ministry of National Defense (General Department of Defense Industry, Air Defense - Air Force, Navy, Military Technical Academy, Vietnam - Russia Tropical Center, Armored Corps, Chemical Corps, Military Science and Technology Institute, Military Industry - Telecommunications Group) and trading and service companies of the Ministry of National Defense. The list of weapons and technical equipment manufactured and produced by the Vietnamese Defense Industry is superior to that of the 2022 International Defense Exhibition, with a large number of weapons and technical equipment of diverse types, attracting much attention from partners as well as visitors.
The exhibition also attracted a larger number of companies from participating countries, including countries with the world's leading military potential and defense industry, such as: the US, Russia, UK, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, India, China, Israel...
The total area of the exhibition area doubled (more than 100,000m2); the areas of outdoor exhibition areas as well as indoor booths were larger than the first exhibition.
The scale of the Exhibition area has an indoor display area of 15,000m2 and an outdoor area of over 20,000m2. The Exhibition displays 68 types of equipment in the Vietnam People's Army's inventory on an area of 10,530m2. There are 242 units registered to exhibit at the Exhibition, 36 international delegations confirmed to attend the Exhibition.
Products on display include Air Defense-Air Force systems and equipment including fighter jets, helicopters, training aircraft, unmanned aircraft, air-to-air missiles, air defense missiles, man-portable air defense missiles, artillery complexes, air defense missiles, and other air defense and air force equipment. Naval systems and equipment including submarines, warships, support ships, reconnaissance and underwater observation equipment; torpedoes, mines; surface-to-sea missiles. Army equipment including weapons; various types of infantry, artillery, anti-tank ammunition, etc.; day and night observation and aiming equipment; ground artillery; self-propelled artillery; multiple launch rocket systems; anti-aircraft artillery; surface-to-surface missiles; anti-tank missiles; tanks; armored vehicles; troop carriers; military transport vehicles; motorcycles, engineering equipment. Security equipment systems displaying biometrics; border control and security; civil defense systems and equipment; customs and immigration; anti-terrorism and internal state security systems; systems, equipment and services for rescue and disaster relief; law enforcement; non-lethal weapons... Communications equipment includes equipment for chemical weapons prevention; weapons and equipment for special forces; electronic warfare equipment; reconnaissance and combat robots in the air, on the ground, on the water and under water; cyber warfare systems; logistics equipment, soldier protection; training and simulation systems; other types of equipment serving national defense; sea-to-sea missiles.
The exhibition will innovate projection technology in display: Using 3D mapping technology, model of Dien Bien Phu Campaign, Ho Chi Minh Campaign, virtual reality technology (VR) simulating the developments of the stages in Dien Bien Phu Campaign with the attacks of our Army in Muong Thanh field, bombers at Tan Son Nhat airport, simulating tanks numbered 843 and 390 entering the Independence Palace in Ho Chi Minh Campaign... Exhibition on cyberspace, interactive screens combined with virtual reality to experience typical products that have been digitized in 3D.
The Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024 will be held from December 19 to 22, with the highlight being the grand opening ceremony with a special art performance and a welcome flight by the Vietnam Air Force with MI-17 and SU-30MK helicopter squadrons, Special Forces performing martial arts and Border Guard Dogs demonstrating professional skills...
In his opening remarks, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized and expressed his delight with the delegates attending the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024 in Hanoi - the City for Peace, the thousand-year-old civilized and heroic capital of Vietnam.

The Prime Minister stated that taking place on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day, the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024 has special significance, being an outstanding international event with the message of "Peace - Friendship - Cooperation - Mutual Development", contributing to promoting foreign affairs and defense cooperation in all fields; for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.
The Prime Minister emphasized that Vietnam is a peace-loving country that values justice, love, and justice in international cooperation. We consistently implement the foreign policy of “independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, diversification of relations, being a good friend, a reliable partner with all countries and an active, responsible member of the international community. Vietnam proactively promotes the expansion of foreign relations and defense cooperation to enhance friendship and mutual understanding, demonstrate sincerity and build trust, jointly address common security and safety challenges, prevent conflicts, and prevent and combat wars in accordance with the fundamental principles of international law; contributing to peace, prosperity, and common development cooperation in the region and the world.
The Prime Minister affirmed that, having experienced much pain, sacrifice and loss due to war, Vietnam understands and appreciates the value of friendship, for peace, cooperation and development. Vietnam firmly adheres to the "4 no's" defense policy - "no participation in military alliances, no ally with one country to fight another, no allowing foreign countries to set up military bases or use its territory to fight against another country, no use of force or threat of use of force in international relations".
Vietnam advocates building a revolutionary, regular, elite, and modern army; building a strong enough national defense potential to enhance the ability to defend and protect the country early, from afar, from the starting point.
Vietnam's strategic orientation is to develop a proactive, self-reliant, dual-use, modern and internationally integrated defense industry; prioritize research, development and application of advanced science and technology in the defense industry to optimize dual-use, both enhancing defense potential and developing the economy, serving the country's strategic interests and the practical lives of the people.
The Prime Minister stated that the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024 is an affirmation of Vietnam's role and contribution to international defense cooperation; a symbol of trust, respect and goodwill for cooperation between countries for a peaceful, stable and prosperous world; a vivid demonstration of the support and meaningful affection of international friends for the country, people and the Vietnam People's Army - the heroic army of a heroic nation, always showing sincerity, trust and responsibility to international friends. This is also an opportunity for all of us to strengthen our relationships and an opportunity for Vietnam to welcome and show gratitude to international friends, share culture, art, cuisine, etc.; introduce the country and people of Vietnam - a nation that is indomitable and brave in defending the Fatherland, but loves peace, is industrious and creative, friendly and hospitable.
On behalf of the Vietnamese Government, the Prime Minister would like to express his sincere thanks to all international guests, enterprises, corporations, and military security industry corporations from various countries who participated in the exhibition. In that spirit, the Prime Minister declared the opening of the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024 and wished delegates and distinguished guests a wonderful experience at the 2024 exhibition and in the heroic, hospitable and friendly Vietnam.
At the ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and other leaders performed the button-pressing ceremony to open the 2020 Vietnam International Military Exhibition.
