On the evening of December 20, in Hanoi, Comrade Pham Minh Chinh, Politburo member, Prime Minister chaired a conference with ambassadors and heads of Vietnamese representative agencies abroad to summarize economic diplomacy work in 2024 and focus on work in 2025 to create momentum for growth. The conference was broadcast live to the headquarters of the People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities, ambassadors, heads of Vietnamese representative agencies; and ambassadors and heads of Vietnamese representative agencies abroad.
In 2024, economic diplomacy was carried out with a drastic and proactive spirit, opening up many new and breakthrough directions, achieving many important results, contributing more and more substantially and effectively to the implementation of socio-economic development goals. During the year, Vietnamese representative agencies abroad carried out over 700 economic diplomacy activities to promote trade, investment and tourism; supported localities in promoting, introducing, connecting and establishing with foreign partners in many diverse, creative and innovative forms; over 400 trade and investment promotion activities of localities at home and abroad... Through economic diplomacy, promotion, promotion and removal of difficulties for industries, fields, localities and enterprises have been enhanced; international integration has been promoted, Vietnam's position has been enhanced; people's lives have been stabilized and improved, social security has been given attention; social order and safety have been ensured; national defense and security are maintained.
Thai Binh has identified economic diplomacy as a key task throughout foreign affairs activities, a specific field promoting the socio-economic development of the province. In the past time, the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee have directed and thoroughly grasped the departments, branches and units to implement the Party and State's policies and guidelines related to foreign affairs. During the year, the province organized 6 delegations to promote trade and investment in a number of countries; sent/allowed 40 delegations to work abroad to promote trade, participate in conferences, seminars, training, surveys, and learn from experiences; received and worked with 95 foreign delegations to the province. In 2024, the province's export turnover will reach 2,949 million USD, an increase of 11.5% compared to 2023; there are 180 FDI projects with a total registered capital of about 5.35 billion USD in the province...
Concluding the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed: Economic diplomacy is becoming more and more substantial, effective and systematic in the spirit of "3 clear" results, clear products, and clear contributions to the country's socio-economic development.
Regarding the tasks in the coming time, the Prime Minister requested ministries, branches, localities, and Vietnamese representative agencies abroad to continue to promote national strength to boost diplomacy, especially economic diplomacy in the spirit of respecting the rights and interests of partners, closely following the Government's 2025 management theme "Discipline, responsibility, proactiveness, timeliness, streamlining, efficiency, creating momentum for breakthroughs". In which, focusing on 5 key points: Promoting economic diplomacy in high-level foreign affairs activities; being more drastic in developing specific plans, establishing exchange mechanisms with partners on accelerating the implementation of high-level commitments and agreements that have been reached; promoting and creating breakthroughs in economic - trade, investment, and labor relations, practically serving development goals; promoting new growth drivers, in which technology diplomacy, semiconductor diplomacy, and economic diplomacy are the focus and breakthroughs of new-era economic diplomacy; Continue to focus on research and consulting on policy adjustments, finance and currency, promoting economic growth of large and important economies.
The Prime Minister also requested ministries, departments, branches and localities to make greater efforts and determination to reorganize and streamline the apparatus from the central to local levels; and to carefully prepare for the organization of Party congresses at all levels towards the 14th National Party Congress.
