On the morning of June 13, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited and worked with the Vietnam Journalists Association on the occasion of the 98th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2023).
Speaking at the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that the press is a propaganda tool on the Party's ideological and cultural front, an essential means of information, and an indispensable spiritual food for social life.
On behalf of the Party and State leaders, the Prime Minister highly appreciated and warmly commended the efforts, achievements, results and dedication of the Vietnam Journalists Association and journalists across the country.

The Prime Minister also shared the difficulties and challenges that the Journalists' Association at all levels, press and media agencies and journalists across the country are facing, especially the five issues raised at the working session on press economics, staffing, finance, facilities and mechanisms and policies with the Journalists' Association and press agencies.
The Prime Minister highly agreed with the direction and tasks set forth by the Vietnam Journalists Association, news agencies and newspapers. At the same time, he suggested a number of issues so that the revolutionary press, together with the Party, State and people, would be more determined, make more efforts and strive to achieve the set goals.
Accordingly, the Prime Minister requested the Vietnam Journalists Association to step up its activities of gathering forces, building a team of journalists, focusing on fostering political and ideological qualities, training mettle, improving capacity and professional qualifications for members to "serve the Fatherland", "serve the people", "serve the class and humanity" as beloved Uncle Ho once advised.
"Let's join hands and unite to build and develop a team of journalists who are politically sensitive, economically astute, scientifically and technologically profound, humane, professional, modern, serving the people, all for the benefit of the nation, the people, and the people," the Prime Minister emphasized.
Along with that, creating a cultural space in journalism activities, thereby helping to correct "deviations" in professional ethics, promoting humanistic values in journalism activities. Protecting the legitimate interests of members in performing their duties.
At the same time, strictly handle violations, especially taking advantage of the press to go against the goals and ideals of the Party and the policies and laws of the State.

The Prime Minister requested to continue to thoroughly grasp and effectively implement the goal of building a professional, humane and modern press and media in accordance with the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress. The press must accompany the nation, perform better its ideological orientation function, and be a sharp weapon to protect the Party's ideological foundation and protect national and ethnic interests. Closely follow the political tasks of the country, agencies, localities and units to reflect and accompany, especially the 6 key tasks and 3 strategic breakthroughs.
The Prime Minister requested press agencies and journalists' associations at all levels to continue innovating the content and methods of operation; strengthen the gathering and solidarity of members, and improve the quality and effectiveness of propaganda work.
Closely follow the Party and State's guidelines and policies, the practice of innovation and the country's development; promote democracy and discipline, strengthen social criticism to put the Party's guidelines into practice, and bring the Party's ideas closer to the people. Perform well the role of supervision and criticism; provide accurate, timely, honest and transparent information.
Promoting and honoring the core values of our nation such as humanity, the beauty of truth - goodness - beauty, the strength of great national unity, will and determination, daring to face and overcome difficulties and challenges, and the great creativity of the people. Arousing and promoting the spirit of self-reliance, self-improvement, daring to think, daring to do, rising from internal strength is fundamental, strategic, long-term, decisive, external strength is important and breakthrough to realize the aspiration to develop a prosperous and happy country.
Strongly promote the start-up movement, innovation, green economy development, digital economy, circular economy, contributing to building an independent, self-reliant economy associated with proactive, active international integration, deep, substantial and effective.
Promoting the role of constructive journalism and solution journalism
Focus on discovering hot, sensitive, newly emerging issues, bottlenecks, and bottlenecks that are of public concern, addressing difficult, complex issues domestically and internationally. Reflecting vividly, objectively, multi-dimensionally, comprehensively, scientifically, deeply, and with solutions for each issue.
Strengthening information analysis, promoting the role of constructive journalism and solution journalism. The press promotes the fight to protect truth and justice, and condemns bad, evil, and negativity.
The Prime Minister hopes that the press will take the lead in discovering and praising new factors, good people, good deeds, using beauty to eliminate ugliness, using positivity to push back negativity, creating motivation, inspiration, and spreading in the community and society.
Strengthen the fight to protect truth, justice, and good people; condemn bad things, evil things, and negative things; oppose wrong thoughts and actions, especially the state of ideological, political, moral, and lifestyle degradation; refute distorted, toxic, and untrue information; actively participate in preventing and combating corruption, negativity, and waste.
Absolutely do not leave this hot front empty or give it up to hostile and destructive forces in all media fields, especially digital media and social networks.
The press must contribute to the work of building a clean and strong Party and political system; improving the leadership capacity and fighting strength of Party organizations and Party members; building effective and efficient administrative agencies at all levels, and a contingent of cadres with sufficient qualities, capacity, and prestige to meet task requirements...
The Prime Minister suggested improving the quality of journalistic works, ensuring high combativeness, profound humanistic values, and strong impact on both the public’s reason and emotions. From there, orienting public opinion, creating social consensus, and strengthening people’s trust in the Party and the State.
Promote digital transformation of journalism associated with digital economy and journalism and media economy; increase the application of artificial intelligence, big data and new technologies in journalism and media activities...
The Prime Minister also proposed to strengthen political training, professional expertise and professional ethics for reporters and journalists. Thoroughly grasp and strictly implement the Press Law and the 10-article Code of Ethics for Vietnamese journalists.
Focus on building clean and strong Party organizations in press agencies. Overcome the situation of "newspaperization" of magazines, manifestations of "privatization of the press", and following trivial tastes.
Pay attention to developing human resources, budget finance; promote technology application. Increase the mobilization of social resources, link in press activities according to the law to reduce difficulties in life for journalists, feel secure in their work, keep a bright mind, pure heart, sharp pen, create truly high-quality products...

The Prime Minister requested the Vietnam Journalists Association to be more proactive in guiding the press team to strengthen policy research and actively participate in policy communication work; promote innovation in content and methods of policy communication in a proactive, timely and appropriate manner, contributing to improving the effectiveness of information and public opinion orientation. Summarize the National Press Awards to propose innovations, upgrade and improve the quality of the awards.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the Party and State highly appreciate the important contributions of the national press, including the Vietnam Journalists Association, and always create conditions for the press and the Vietnam Journalists Association to promote their role and position, and best fulfill their assigned political tasks; journalists increasingly produce high-quality journalistic works, contributing to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, consolidating and enhancing the trust and love of the Party, State and people for the press.
Also at the meeting, leaders of ministries and branches discussed and answered questions, and the Prime Minister directed and gave policies to handle proposals and recommendations from the Vietnam Journalists Association and press agencies.
The Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Information and Communications to preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies to review and propose amendments and supplements to regulations related to press activities such as Decree 60 on financial autonomy mechanism of public service units, a number of circulars of ministries; continue to review and adjust press planning to be more reasonable and effective;
Deploying solutions to ensure digital infrastructure, training human resources, and facilities for press agencies; perfecting the mechanism for ordering and assigning tasks to the press; organizing the Association's staff... in accordance with the development needs of the press and the conditions and circumstances of the country .
