Ta Han village, Xuan Lac commune in 2024 was threatened by landslides, dozens of households had to relocate to temporary housing, but with the support of the Ministry of National Defense, the participation of officers and soldiers of Military Region 1 and the efforts of the entire political system of the province, the new resettlement area was completed in just a few months at the end of 2024.
Ta Han village now has a new look with many solidly built houses in a spacious, flat, and safe resettlement area.
The resettlement area has a total area of over 14,700 m2, each house is over 100 m2 wide; electricity, water and traffic systems have been invested in and built synchronously. These days, next to the new houses, people feel secure in working and producing. Village chief Vu A Ngai shared: "With the help of the army to build houses, instructions on growing vegetables and the rice has been planted, corn is being prepared for sowing; the people in the village thank the government and the army for supporting the investment in new, spacious, clean and safe housing with a complete system of clean water, electricity and traffic roads".
Many years ago, the H'Mong ethnic people in the villages of Vang Quan, Vang Dooc, Ban Dien, Ban Tuom, Pac Pau, lived almost isolated during the rainy season because the dirt roads were muddy and too far away... What to do to develop the economy and reduce poverty is a problem with almost no solution. Understanding the hardship and desire to escape poverty of the people here, since the end of 2022, the Provincial Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board has invested more than 10 billion VND to build roads.
At the end of 2023, the 5.7 km long road with a 3 m wide road surface according to rural mountainous road standards was completed and put into use, bringing joy to the people here.
Secretary of the Binh Trung Commune Party Committee, Ban Van Binh, said that with the new concrete road, people can transport agricultural products to sell, traders can come to the village to buy wood from the planted forest, and people can transport goods to the commune center or to neighboring provinces conveniently. The new road has been helping people develop the economy and reduce poverty effectively.
According to the Bac Kan Provincial Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, from 2024 to 2025, the unit has implemented a project to renovate and upgrade eight routes in ethnic minority areas with a total capital of more than 134 billion VND. Although the investment period is until 2025, with the determination of "the sooner, the more benefit the people", by the end of 2024, all routes have been basically completed, handed over and put into use.
Bac Kan always strives to concentrate and combine many resources to invest in improving infrastructure for ethnic minority areas. Thanks to that, many localities strive to complete the criteria for building new rural areas, especially the criteria for transportation, irrigation, rural markets, etc.
In the 2021-2025 period, Bac Kan has achieved and exceeded 15 targets. The province's economic growth reached 7.4%; the poverty rate decreased by nearly 2.5%, with poor districts alone decreasing by 4%. Essential infrastructure projects also create a foundation and driving force for the province to implement projects to support production development and value chain linkages in ethnic minority areas.
In 2025 alone, Bac Kan will continue to invest in the construction of 390 essential infrastructure projects, including: 128 transitional projects and 262 newly started projects, including 211 traffic projects; 98 irrigation projects; 37 commune radio relay stations and community centers; eight projects to build standard schools and classrooms; six electricity projects; 30 other small-scale infrastructure projects proposed by the community. Along with that, the province will invest in hardening roads to commune centers, investing in renovating and upgrading the market network in ethnic minority areas... to gradually help people stabilize their lives and develop socio-economy.
