Owning 40 mulberry trees on a garden area of nearly 1 sao, each year, after deducting family expenses, Mrs. Pham Thi Ky (54 years old, residing in Xuan Trung hamlet, Nghi Duc commune) earns tens of millions of dong. “On average, each mulberry tree yields 50-70 kg/crop. Mulberries need to be harvested quickly, otherwise they will overripe and fall. Picking mulberries takes quite a lot of time. The mulberries are small and easily bruised, so they must be picked gently by hand,” Mrs. Ky shared.

Strawberries are popular in the market and have high prices, so we are very excited. Yesterday, I picked and sold 1 million VND worth of strawberries,” said Ms. Ky.

The family of Mr. Luong Van Cong (51 years old, residing in Xuan My hamlet, Nghi Duc commune) planted 6 mulberry trees that are 7-8 years old. “ Mulberries grow quickly and are quite easy to grow. To propagate, you just need to carefully graft the branches. After two years, the mulberry trees can be harvested. This year, the weather is favorable, the sun is warm, so the mulberry trees produce many large, juicy fruits. The best time to pick mulberries is from 9am to 5pm, because this is the driest time, the mulberries are not waterlogged, avoiding damage,” said Mr. Cong.
