The exhibition attracted a large number of visitors.

Dr. Vu Manh Ha, Director of the Ho Chi Minh Museum, emphasized that during his revolutionary career, China was a place where Uncle Ho visited many times, lived there for many periods of time, made many Chinese friends and left behind deep feelings.

Footprints of Man

Many places in China still bear his footprints, which have the power to move and become vivid symbols of the Vietnam-China friendship. “The exhibition introduces to the public more than 200 typical documents, images, and artifacts, including many unique and special artifacts that deeply reflect the revolutionary footprints of President Ho Chi Minh in China through the ages…”, said Dr. Vu Manh Ha.

According to Director Vu Manh Ha, today, the sites marking President Ho Chi Minh's revolutionary activities in China have been preserved and promoted by the leaders of the Party, State, Government at all levels and the people of China, becoming red addresses for educating revolutionary traditions and friendly exchanges for the people of the two countries, especially the young generation. These are not only important memorial sites of the President in China but also invaluable spiritual heritages, connecting and transmitting the friendship of "both comrades and brothers" between the two Parties, two States and peoples of Vietnam and China.

In the 1920s, Nguyen Ai Quoc - Ho Chi Minh went to Guangzhou and Hong Kong (China) to participate in the activities of the Communist Party of China and to build up the Vietnamese revolutionary forces. Many places in China have left their marks, demonstrating his tireless efforts for the revolutionary cause, along with the glorious moments of the people of Vietnam and China fighting side by side. That was the beginning of the fine tradition of always supporting each other in the revolutionary struggle between Vietnam and China. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, especially in the last years of his life, President Ho Chi Minh often paid friendly visits to China, met intimately, held talks and talked with the leaders of the Chinese Party and State. On these occasions, he also visited public works, farms, factories, schools, scenic spots and resorts in many places. His close brotherly affection for the Chinese people still exists in the hearts of many people here.

Artifacts that “tell stories”

At the exhibition, visitors will have the opportunity to meet again and “listen” to stories from many valuable artifacts. Among them is a collection of artifacts that President Ho Chi Minh used when he stayed at the home of Mr. Nong Ky Chan, Na Trao village, Ha Dong commune, Long Chau district, Guangxi province. Long Chau is a land with a revolutionary tradition in China, where many historical events and traces of revolutionary activities of President Ho Chi Minh and Vietnamese revolutionary leaders have been recorded. During his time working in Long Chau, he was protected and helped by the people here, creating a warm relationship.

The exhibition “Ho Chi Minh’s Footprints in China” introduces a collection related to the time President Ho Chi Minh spent in Longzhou, with simple objects such as: a set of three porcelain rice bowls, a bronze basin and a pendulum clock. These are the original objects that Uncle Ho used during his revolutionary activities at Mr. Nong Ky Chan’s house in August 1944. Mr. Nong Ky Chan was a key member of the peasant association led by the Communist Party of China. He helped Vietnamese revolutionaries in Longzhou such as Ho Chi Minh, Hoang Van Thu... After China’s liberation, Mr. Nong Ky Chan was elected Vice Chairman of Longzhou District, Guangxi Province.

The gift “Xiang Fei Fan” is also a special artifact introduced at the exhibition. During his time working at the Eighth Route Army Office in Guilin, Nguyen Ai Quoc and Marshal Ye Jianying had many opportunities to work together, thereby creating a close comrade relationship. On December 30, 1961, Marshal Ye Jianying led the Chinese Military Delegation to visit Vietnam to greet and present President Ho Chi Minh with meaningful and valuable gifts. Among them was the Xiang Fei Paper Fan. On the fan was a dedication and a poem written by Marshal Ye Jianying to President Ho Chi Minh in Chinese. The dedication was translated as: “I and my children, A Ning, Niu Niu, Xiao Ying” Respectfully present to the President a Xiang Fei fan inscribed with a poem recently written, asking the President to “give me advice” and keep it as a souvenir. Respectfully greet, Ye Jianying”. Following the dedication from right to left is a seven-part poem. The poem expresses Marshal Diep Kiem Anh's admiration for the indomitable fighting spirit and victories of the Vietnamese people. The Marshal affirms President Ho Chi Minh's assistance to China; is determined to help Vietnam fight against American imperialism and believes in the victory of the people of Eastern countries.

The fan was used by President Ho Chi Minh and kept on the bookshelf in his office. This gift helps us see more clearly the deep affection of President Ho Chi Minh for his Chinese friends, as well as the affection of his Chinese friends for him. Also attracting viewers at the exhibition is the Thanh Nien Newspaper issue 63, published on October 3, 1926. The newspaper is quite small in size (smaller than A4 paper), the cuff is rectangular, in the middle are the two words "Thanh Nien" written in Vietnamese and Chinese characters. The newspaper number is written in a five-pointed star placed on the left of the cuff. Below the cuff, in the right corner, is the time the newspaper was published. The articles are evenly distributed, with grids, divided into columns for readers to easily follow.

The birth of Thanh Nien Newspaper opened the glorious history of the Vietnamese revolutionary press. On June 21, 1925, at house number 13 (now number 248 - 250), Van Minh Street, Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province, China, Thanh Nien Newspaper, the mouthpiece of the Association of Vietnamese Revolutionary Youth, founded by leader Nguyen Ai Quoc, published its first issue. This was the first revolutionary newspaper published by leader Nguyen Ai Quoc in China to send back to the country and some other places, so the layout and printing were completely manual with a small number of copies. More than 200 artifacts and documents displayed at the exhibition also tell many other touching and meaningful stories to viewers. The Director of the Ho Chi Minh Museum expressed: “Through the thematic exhibition, we wish to convey the message: The steadfast, strong friendship, standing shoulder to shoulder in the revolutionary cause and national construction between Vietnam and China, which was painstakingly built and nurtured by President Ho Chi Minh, President Mao Zedong and previous leaders, is an extremely valuable common asset, the foundation of development. The Party, State and people of Vietnam and China need to “inherit well, protect well, and promote well” that valuable asset...”.

The Museum Director emphasized that the exhibition “Ho Chi Minh’s Footprints in China” at the Ho Chi Minh Museum this time is a practical cultural activity with wide influence, contributing to fostering “Vietnam-China friendship forever green” as President Ho Chi Minh once said. The exhibition will take place at the Ho Chi Minh Museum until the end of April 2025.
