On the afternoon of December 27, the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) announced 10 outstanding achievements and activities of education and training in 2024.

The Party and State continue to pay attention to directing the development of education and training.
After 10 years of implementing fundamental and comprehensive innovation in education and training in the spirit of Resolution 29-NQ/TW of the 11th Central Executive Committee, the Politburo issued Conclusion No. 91-KL/TW on August 10, 2024 to continue implementing Resolution No. 29.
The President awarded the title of People's Teacher and 1,167 Excellent Teacher.
2024 is the first year that the awarding of the titles of People's Teacher and Meritorious Teacher will be carried out according to the new Decree of the Government (Decree No. 35/2024/ND-CP dated April 2, 2024). In 2024, the President signed a Decision to award 21 People's Teachers and 1,167 Meritorious Teachers.
Developing the teaching force
After nearly 20 years of incubation and more than a year of urgent preparation, the first draft of the Law on Teachers at the 8th Session of the 15th National Assembly received high support and consensus from National Assembly delegates.
As expected, the draft Law on Teachers will be considered and approved at the 9th Session of the 15th National Assembly.
Completing the first cycle of the 2018 General Education Program implementation process
2024 marks the completion of the first cycle of implementing the 2018 General Education Program for 3 levels of education synchronously nationwide.
The Ministry of Education and Training has announced the exam plan, exam format structure, and reference exam questions for the high school graduation exam from 2025 according to the new program.
Along with that, preparations for innovation in high school, university and college admissions have also been implemented by the Ministry of Education and Training through amending and supplementing current regulations.
Digital transformation in education continues to achieve many important results
2024 continues to be a year in which the Education sector pays attention to digital transformation and achieves many important results such as: Completing the construction of 100% of the sector's databases and successfully connecting with national databases; the application of information technology to serve the high school graduation exam and university admissions has been implemented synchronously and thoroughly.
Increasing the ranking of Vietnamese educational institutions in the region and the world
Continuing the achievements of previous years, in 2024, the rankings of Asian and international higher education institutions continued to have an impressive increase with 17 higher education institutions in the QS Top Asia Rankings.
Vietnamese education continues to make positive marks at international competitions
In 2024, Vietnam had 7 student delegations participating in regional and international Olympic competitions with 38 students participating. The Vietnamese student delegations brought back outstanding achievements when all won prizes.
Join hands and make efforts to overcome the consequences of natural disasters and floods
In the difficult context of the damage caused by storm No. 3 (Yagi), the entire education sector has joined hands and made efforts to overcome the consequences to stabilize teaching and learning as soon as possible. The education sector has also received timely and effective support from units, organizations and individuals nationwide.
Successfully organized major school sports events of national and international scale
In 2024, Vietnam successfully hosted the 13th Southeast Asian School Games. The Games brought together 1,300 student athletes and coaches from 10 countries in the region.
Promote the emulation movement to build a learning society and lifelong learning
The Education sector continues to implement the Project "Building a learning society for the 2021-2030 period" and the movement "The whole country competes to build a learning society, promoting lifelong learning for the 2023-2030 period".
For the first time, the National Conference of Directors of Continuing Education Centers was organized by the Ministry of Education and Training, demonstrating a positive spirit in promoting continuing education, building a learning society, and lifelong learning.
