Young people's efforts
Graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering in 2010, Ha Quoc Trung (born in 1991, Loc Tay village, Que Loc commune) chose Ho Chi Minh City to start a career and became involved in the agarwood profession.
With the guidance of his seniors, in 2016, Trung confidently started his own business after getting married. The COVID-19 pandemic broke out, goods could not be sold, and the accumulated capital was exhausted. Unable to hold on, Trung and his wife decided to return to their hometown at the end of 2020.
Choosing to stick with the agarwood profession in his hometown again, but this time, Mr. Trung was more cautious, working while exploring and learning about the market. Then from a small facility, in early 2024, he and his wife boldly invested in opening the Thien Vu agarwood production workshop.
The products are exported to the Chinese and Middle Eastern markets, creating regular jobs for 9 workers with an average income of 6 million VND/person/month and many workers receive goods for processing. Ha Quoc Trung said that he will continue to expand the factory if the loan application from the agricultural extension source is approved.
“Comrade Ha Thi Minh Chau is very responsible in her work. As a party member, she always has good ways of thinking and doing that can be applied to the work of the party cell, village, and hamlet. At the same time, she is very good at mobilizing the people, always completing assigned tasks excellently.”
(Mr. Huynh Tien Sy - Permanent Deputy Secretary of Que Loc Commune Party Committee)
Mr. Trung shared that he was used to the working environment in Ho Chi Minh City, so when he returned to his hometown to start a business, he encountered many difficulties. At that time, Ms. Ha Thi Minh Chau - Secretary of the Party Cell and Head of the Front Work Committee of Loc Tay village always encouraged and supported him in completing all kinds of paperwork and loan procedures.
“The loan application from the agricultural extension fund to expand the workshop and produce new products was also supported by Ms. Chau with the procedures. With such care and support, a young man like me has less trouble and more motivation to develop the economy,” he confided.
Locally, Ms. Ha Thi Minh Chau also takes on the role of head of the loan group, ready to guide and provide maximum support in procedures for people who need to borrow capital for production, business, and labor export.
She shared: “In 2015, I was elected as village chief by the people. I and the village officials did not hesitate to face difficulties in propagating and mobilizing people to develop the economy and join hands to build a model new rural village with specific directions.
Responding to the economic development movement among the people, up to now, Loc Tay village still has 7.97% of poor households under social protection, and no poor households of working age. The village is preparing documents to request recognition as a model cultural village.
Learn Uncle Ho's friendly style
Sharing about studying and following Uncle Ho, Secretary of Loc Tay village Party cell - Ha Thi Minh Chau said: "I am always close to, listen to, and grasp the aspirations of the people, so I am trusted; from there, people support the implementation of common tasks".
Learning Uncle Ho's style of being close to the people, the active mark of the young female Party cell secretary Ha Thi Minh Chau is closely linked to each task, starting with the collective discussion, setting out orientations, and choosing a new direction for the locality's development.
And when it came to putting it into practice, Minh Chau and party members, military and civilian cadres of the village took the lead in implementing it, demonstrating an exemplary role in mobilizing people to participate.
Compared to the time Ha Thi Minh Chau took over as village chief in 2015, the appearance of Loc Tay village has changed significantly.
Specifically, in the construction of new rural areas, more than 400 families contributed working days and donated nearly 3 hectares of land to build rural roads, intra-field roads, renovate fences and gates, build model gardens, plant flowers and trees, etc. Thereby contributing to bringing Loc Tay village to the finish line of a model new rural village and building an advanced new rural commune.
In mobilizing people to develop the economy, realizing that there were some areas of land that had been abandoned for many years, Minh Chau and the village cadres gave directions and mobilized people to change the crop structure.
Of the 5 hectares planned to be converted to a lotus seed growing model, 2 hectares were planted in the first year, showing that the soil quality is suitable for lotus plants, opening up a new direction in economic development, attracting more households to register to grow lotus combined with tourism.
In the past two years, 10 hectares of other abandoned cropland have been restored by the people to grow cassava and peanuts. The people have proactively converted, no longer waiting for village officials to persuade them, because they have seen the effectiveness of this economic model.
According to Ms. Ha Thi Minh Chau, to achieve this result, village officials must coordinate with the commune to propagate and support the first crop so that people can feel secure in farming.
Always thinking of finding new directions for local development is the mark of Ha Thi Minh Chau and the collective cadres of Loc Tay village. Most recently, they have oriented, grasped the ideas, and supported the village's youth to borrow capital when they need to go to Korea and Japan to work abroad to develop their family economy.
“In my role as Party cell secretary, I research and understand the Party's policies to convey to cadres, Party members and people when taking on the position of Head of the Village Front Work Committee. In addition to being a leading example, the leader needs to provide directions for the collective to discuss and agree on. Without directions, the village will not develop positively. For example, in economic development, if there is no direction for people to develop the lotus growing model, it may take several years for them to see and do it,” Ms. Minh Chau shared.
