The Association of War Veterans in Binh Xuyen district has more than 6,800 members operating in 15 grassroots associations, with 139 branches. Of these, 1,386 members are Party members; 20 members participate in work at Party, government, front, and mass organizations from district to commune and town levels; more than 100 comrades are Party cell secretaries, village heads, and heads of residential groups.
In their positions, members have promoted a sense of responsibility, fulfilled all assigned tasks well, and are worthy of being a reliable support for the Party, government and people.
As the core force in patriotic emulation movements at the grassroots level, closely following the tasks of the locality and the Association at higher levels, the Veterans Association at all levels actively propagates and thoroughly disseminates the purpose and meaning of patriotic emulation movements in general and the "Exemplary Veterans" emulation movement in particular to all cadres and members.
Through political activities and conferences, the awareness and sense of responsibility of War Veterans Association members have been significantly improved. A large number of members have responded well to emulation movements in the fields of economic development, poverty reduction, new rural construction, civilized urban areas; building cultural life; ensuring security and order at the grassroots level...
On the economic development front, sustainable poverty reduction, the District Veterans Association has proactively promoted the movement "Veterans help each other reduce poverty, do good business", propagandized and mobilized veterans to develop the economy, build a prosperous and happy life and make many positive contributions to society.
Along with coordinating with functional sectors to open training courses on science and technology transfer, organizing visits to economic models for members, the Veterans Association at all levels also creates conditions for veterans to borrow capital to develop production and business.
From the capital of the district Social Policy Bank, the association at all levels is managing 40 savings and loan groups, with a total outstanding debt of over 79.6 billion VND, lending to over 1,450 members. In addition, the association also maintains an internal fund of over 7.4 billion VND and a fund of over 5 billion VND from 7 Veterans Clubs with good economic performance for veterans to borrow interest-free or low-interest loans to stabilize their lives and develop their family economy.
In addition, the district has 5 enterprises, 1 agricultural service cooperative, 41 farms, 101 households, 112 stores owned by war veterans, generating good revenue, contributing to creating regular jobs for more than 650 local workers. Typical members are Nguyen Chi Hiep (Thien Ke commune), Le Thi Huong (Phu Xuan commune), Nguyen Van Nong, Nguyen Huy Ha, Nguyen Duy Hy (Thanh Lang town).
Not only being exemplary in economic development, with the spirit of "mutual love and support", the Veterans Association at all levels has well organized the movement "Comradely affection", built a fund to visit and encourage members in difficult circumstances, illness and disease.
In 2024, the Association at all levels mobilized cadres and members of the War Veterans Association to support the Comradeship Fund with 160 million VND; supported the construction of 6 new houses, repaired 1 house for members with housing difficulties; allocated 78 million VND from the fund to present over 260 gifts to families of War Veterans Association members in difficult circumstances on the occasion of Lunar New Year...
Thanks to the support of the Veterans Association, the material and spiritual life of members has been significantly improved. The percentage of members with a good and rich standard of living is 88.7%, the number of poor households is 7, accounting for 0.1%.
In the movement of joining hands to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas, the Association of War Veterans at all levels in the district has established 62 "War Veterans Self-Management on Environment" Clubs, maintaining 52 self-managed roads that meet the criteria of bright - green - clean - beautiful.
Along with that, CCB members also participate in mediation groups in villages and residential groups with a total of 160 members, of which 40 members are group leaders, contributing to the successful mediation of dozens of disputes and conflicts among residents about land and site clearance.
In addition, the Association at all levels has actively propagated and mobilized cadres, members of the War Veterans Association and the people to effectively ensure security, order and social safety through self-management models such as coordinating with the police force to build 146 "1+2" and "1+3" self-management models on security and order; establishing 71 War Veterans Association teams to participate in the work of guarding and preventing child drowning; 135 War Veterans Association teams to grasp the social situation and do mass mobilization work in villages and residential groups with 470 comrades participating....
The models established and developed by war veterans all operate effectively, becoming bright spots that spread throughout the community and are recognized and rewarded by all levels and sectors.
With the spirit of solidarity, exemplary, and responsibility, for many consecutive years, the Association of War Veterans of Binh Xuyen district has excellently completed the assigned tasks. In 2024, the Association of War Veterans of the district was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Association of War Veterans and a Certificate of Merit by the District People's Committee.
100% of the War Veterans Associations of communes and towns completed their tasks well, of which 5 War Veterans Associations of communes and towns were classified as having completed their tasks excellently, 7 individuals were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Provincial War Veterans Association, 40 collectives and 54 individuals were awarded Certificates of Merit by the District War Veterans Association.
