Cashless payment for car booking is becoming more and more popular

VietNamNetVietNamNet24/11/2023

On November 1, MoMo and Grab Vietnam announced their cooperation. Users can choose MoMo to pay when using Grab's existing services such as transportation (GrabBike, GrabCar), food delivery (GrabFood), online shopping (GrabMart), and delivery (GrabExpress). Grab users can also use the postpaid feature currently provided by MoMo. This is the second e-wallet integrated on Grab.

Not only Grab, MoMo also cooperates with another ride-hailing platform, Gojek, to increase revenue. In July, Gojek announced that it had launched its online food ordering feature GoFood on the MoMo platform. Through this cooperation, MoMo users in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City can use Gojek's GoFood feature to order food.

Meanwhile, VNPAY cooperates with traditional taxi companies to integrate services in the Taxi Call feature on banking applications such as: VCB Digibank, VietinBank iPay Mobile, BIDV SmartBanking, Agribank E-Mobile Banking, BAOVIET Smart, AB Ditizen, VietABank EzMobile, Eximbank Edigi, HDBank App, SAIGONBANK Smart Banking, IVB Mobile Banking... and VNPAY wallet, helping users to call traditional taxis easily, quickly and more economically with just a few touches.

Recently, VNPAY has specially cooperated with Xanh SM, a new Vietnamese technology transportation service brand appearing on the market.

According to VNPAY representative, developing Taxi service on banking application platform, VNPAY wallet to connect reputable taxi companies is a different direction.

Through this, users can search and connect with the nearest driver, proactively track the pick-up/drop-off journey, with stable booking prices, regardless of weather conditions or rush hours. Users of this service can also pay the fare directly on the mobile application without having to carry cash.

In addition to Taxi services, in the near future, VNPAY will coordinate to deploy services such as delivery, car rental, airport car booking, etc. on banking applications and e-wallets.

Currently, VNPAY is cooperating with 100 prestigious traditional taxi companies in Vietnam such as Mai Linh, G7, Sun Taxi, Lado Taxi, Van Xuan, Thanh Nga, Thang Long, Thu Do, Sen Hong, Da Nang, Binh An, Que Lua, Saigon Taxi...

In the field of public transport, Hanoi Transport Corporation (Transerco) has become the pioneer public passenger transport unit to apply VNPAY-QR payment at all monthly bus ticket counters of the Corporation.

Keeping up with the general trend, dozens of private passenger transport units including Hoang Long, InterBus Lines, Dong Hanh, Phuc Xuyen, Ha Lan, etc. have also promptly connected to this payment application.

Promote cashless payments

As someone who often books taxis on banking apps, Ms. Nguyen Thu Trang (Ba Dinh, Hanoi) said that she can book a car easily by simply opening the banking app. Payment is very quick and convenient without having to use cash. Not to mention, Ms. Trang also often receives discount codes.

“I travel frequently so paying in small change is time-consuming, whereas I just need to deduct money from my account. Drivers also don’t have to worry about changing money,” said Ms. Trang.

Mr. Manh Linh (Thanh Xuan, Hanoi) said: “I use many services such as booking a car, delivering food during the day. With MoMo payment on Grab, I have another convenient cashless payment method.”

Previously, Mr. Linh regularly used MoMo to transfer/receive money, book airline tickets, buy movie tickets, shop online, pay for supermarket purchases, eat out, pay for public services, fill up gas, etc.

A representative of G7 taxi company said that after cooperating with VNPAY, the number of customers booking cars increased every day, our sales increased significantly thanks to exploiting the customer file (about 25-30 million people) on banking applications and e-wallets. From there, we created brand strength and expanded the market.

Mr. Nguyen Manh Tuong, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of MoMo, assessed that Vietnam is a potential market with a rapidly increasing level of digital transformation. The cooperation between Grab and MoMo can help take advantage of opportunities in this market and create value for users and businesses.

The collaboration between e-wallets and taxi companies or ride-hailing apps has contributed to accelerating the cashless trend that is booming in Vietnam, bringing a convenient and easy payment experience for many daily needs of Vietnamese users.

This move is considered to help platforms take advantage of each other's large existing user base, thereby increasing revenue from cross-selling products, while not having to spend a lot of money to expand market share.
