Through studying Central documents as well as following the mass media, I grasp the Party's spirit and policies on the revolution of streamlining the apparatus, including the content of merging provincial and commune-level administrative units and not organizing at the district level.

Accordingly, Bac Kan and Thai Nguyen provinces will merge together, the proposed name of the new province is Thai Nguyen, the administrative headquarters is located in Thai Nguyen. The two provinces have a long history of attachment, close geographical location, similar culture and history, so the merger is reasonable. After the merger, the name of the administrative unit Bac Kan will no longer exist, so there is a bit of regret, but for the common development of the country, I still support it. For me, the new province is still my hometown, as long as people's lives are improved, the country is beautiful and rich.

As someone who has witnessed the adjustments of provincial administrative units, veteran Nguyen Quan (94 years old), residing in Duc Xuan ward, Bac Kan city, clearly understands the opportunities, advantages as well as the difficulties and challenges that arise before each separation and merger.

In this revolution of streamlining the administrative apparatus, veteran Nguyen Quan expressed his high support and also placed his hopes on a new development step for his homeland and country. Mr. Nguyen Quan said that Bac Kan has many potentials and advantages for development, especially in terms of forest resources and Ba Be Tourist Area. After the merger, with more abundant resources, along with strong policies, it will help exploit the potential considered as the strength of Bac Kan, contributing to improving the income and life of the people.

Ba Be Lake is loved by many people and considered as a “green pearl” in the middle of the Viet Bac forest. With its own beauty and value, Ba Be Lake is the material for many works of poetry, music, painting and is always a peaceful and poetic place to return to in the hearts of nature-loving tourists, an important premise for tourism development.

However, due to many reasons, including limited resources, so far Ba Be Lake tourism has not developed commensurate with its potential and available advantages. Therefore, after the province's merger, it is expected that there will be enough resources and strong enough policies for the "green gem" to shine, especially in the context of the transport infrastructure connecting Ba Be Lake with other localities being gradually completed.
