Phu Quy Island enters tourist season, visitors increase sharply

In the first two months of 2024, due to unfavorable weather conditions, Phu Quy Island only welcomed about 6,584 visitors. However, in March, the number of visitors began to increase sharply, reaching more than 17,000.

A representative of a high-speed passenger ship running the Phan Thiet - Phu Quy route said that because this is the beginning of the calm sea season, the number of tourists to Phu Quy island has increased sharply.

Including the first 3 months of the year, Phu Quy Island is estimated to welcome more than 23,780 visitors (including about 985 international visitors), an increase of more than 13,830 visitors compared to the same period in 2023.

It is forecasted that in April 2024, the number of visitors to Phu Quy will continue to increase dramatically when the weather is favorable and peaks during the April 30 holiday.

Currently, there are about 4 high-speed boats carrying hundreds of tourists from Phan Thiet to Phu Quy Island every day. On weekends, most of the boats are sold out, and some even add more trips.

According to the People's Committee of Phu Quy island district, by 2023, the entire island will have 60 hotels, motels, and 97 homestays to accommodate more than 2,000 guests per day. In recent years, people on the island have rushed to build homestays.
