Digging a ditch, revealing a 3,000-year-old treasure that is shocking

According to Heritage Daily, three treasures were collected by German archaeologists in the form of fragments scattered near the ground in the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania state area.

They believe these were exposed after recent ground work, including dredging to improve drainage ditches or plowing up fields.

The first hoard consists of seven 3,000-year-old swords that may have been used as burial or sacrificial objects during the Bronze Age, according to an announcement from Germany's State Office for the Protection of Cultural Heritage and Monuments (LAKD).

Although some artifacts from this period have been found in the area, it is unusual to find seven swords in one place.

The area where they were found is in the Mecklenburg Lake district of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

At another location in the district, a second treasure consisting of two relic boxes also appeared unexpectedly in an almost exposed position.

Inside the boxes in addition to the relics - including an ancient cross - were 1,700 coins, rings, pearl necklaces, crystals and other jewelry.

This is considered a major discovery because they serve as rare evidence of Christian faith in an area that was largely influenced by other faiths at the time.

The coins in this millennium treasure trove are mostly of West German origin, but also include a few coins from England, Denmark, Bohemia and Hungary.

"This is the largest hoard of Slavic coins ever found since the post-war period," LAKD said.

The treasure promises to shed light on previously unknown trade relationships in the 11th century, helping archaeologists rewrite a largely unknown history.

This is the first time that archaeologists from the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania have found so many valuable treasures at once.

The above publications are just the beginning, as the analysis of the coins in the laboratory promises to pave the way for many other valuable studies in the future.
