Director Le Hoang: If my film is nominated for an award, I will withdraw.

The 2024 Green Star Awards have returned with many changes, opening many new awards, increasing the number of trophies to 31 for 4 nomination categories.

The jury of this 11th award ceremony includes journalist Dinh Trong Tuan, Chairman of the Art Council, People's Artist Dao Ba Son, Meritorious Artist - Director Le Hoang and People's Artist Kim Xuan.

In addition, three new faces are also on the jury, including Meritorious Artist Nguyen K'Linh, director Kien Ung and journalist Hoang Tuan.

As a member of the jury, Le Hoang has made many people wonder whether the film Tra , directed by him, is on the nomination list or not. Regarding this issue, the male director responded that up to now, he still does not know this information, even though he is a member of the jury. However, he declared that he would be ready to withdraw if his film was nominated.

"If there is a nomination, I will also withdraw because the film Tra was only shown for 2 days, then had to leave the theater. In the plan, I will continue to show this film. Besides, I am a member of the art council and having my film nominated is too strange. I cannot do that," said director Le Hoang.

Regarding the film's controversial issue, director Le Hoang said that this is a normal issue in the film industry, each audience has the right to like or dislike a film.

"It's a very fair story and filmmakers will always face that problem. And personally, I really like it," the director emphasized.

Previously, Tra was a movie by Le Hoang released in theaters on the occasion of Lunar New Year 2024. The movie starred Viet Huong, Truong Minh Quoc Thai... However, after a few days, Tra was withdrawn from theaters due to low revenue and negative reviews from both experts and audiences. Many people even labeled Le Hoang's movie a "disaster".

Speaking more about the 2024 Green Star Award, Mr. Lam Chi Thien - Head of the Organizing Committee said that this year, in addition to the jury, the award categories also changed when increasing from 27 to 31.

In addition, the award will open an additional category of "Best Music Video", in which the jury will score the MV based on a cinematic perspective.

The television category also has two new awards: "Best Supporting Actor/Actress" and "Most Favorite Couple".

Regarding the addition of awards for supporting television actors, People's Artist Kim Xuan - a member of the jury, commented that this addition is late.

"Please do not differentiate between main and supporting roles in a TV series because each role has a great contribution. Each actor has his or her own impressive points for the role. We must recognize that contribution so that many famous artists still play valuable supporting roles and create success for the work, that is a great honor," the female artist shared.

The Green Star Award is an annual award held to honor producers, film crews, artists, etc. who have made positive contributions to Vietnamese cinema. At the same time, the award also honors good domestic and foreign films that have had influence and are loved by audiences in the fields of television, cinema and online films.

The 2024 Green Star Award Ceremony is scheduled to take place at 6:00 p.m. on January 11, 2025 at Nguyen Du Stadium, Ho Chi Minh City.
