The Journalists & Public Opinion newspaper chose a symphony orchestra as its main instrument, combining folk music , modern music, and timeless songs from around the world and Vietnam to create an incredibly impressive opening musical and artistic space.

Attending the 2023 Press Gala, delegates and the public had the opportunity to enjoy a truly symphony concert. Under the conductor's sublime guidance, the sounds of violin, cello, trumpet, and drums blended together, creating magnificent melodies. The successive performances, primarily featuring symphonic music, were not simply music but works of art, offering listeners a vibrant and emotionally charged experience.

The audience was immersed in a magnificent and emotional musical atmosphere.

It is no coincidence that the symphony is likened to the novel in literature. It is no coincidence that many people are willing to use such eloquent and sublime words to describe the symphony, praising it as a "wonder of sound," a pinnacle of human artistic creation.

It's no coincidence that the Journalists & Public Opinion Newspaper chose symphony music for the 2023 Journalism Gala. The past year has indeed been a challenging one for Vietnamese journalism, as it continues to face increasingly fierce competition from cross-border platforms. The economic challenges facing journalism are also becoming more difficult as many newsrooms struggle with financial self-sufficiency.

Press agencies have been, are, and will continue to seek ways to survive and develop, while constantly striving to maintain the integrity and core values ​​of Vietnamese revolutionary journalism and of Vietnamese revolutionary journalists.

The general trend in world journalism today, and in Vietnamese journalism in particular, is a declining number of photojournalists. Meanwhile, the demands for professional quality are becoming increasingly higher. Therefore, the profession is becoming more difficult and demanding for photojournalists. To produce a compelling and timely news photograph is not a matter of luck, but rather a continuous process of honing experience and dedicating oneself to the field.

Evaluating photojournalism as an important genre, Mr. Le Quoc Minh - Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, and President of the Vietnam Journalists Association - stated, "A picture is worth a thousand words," with informational value many times greater than written text... In reality, high-quality and reputable professional platforms for photojournalism are still too scarce, seemingly unable to fully meet the needs of photojournalists and failing to keep pace with the development of photojournalism both domestically and internationally.

These are stories captured in images from each reporter's perspective, offering readers beautiful, emotionally rich, meaningful, and highly topical photographs.

Ahead of a year full of upheaval and difficulties for the press, journalist Le Tran Nguyen Huy - Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Acting Editor-in-Chief of the Journalists & Public Opinion Newspaper, and Head of the Organizing Committee of the Award - observed that media organizations, despite limited resources, have been determined to find their own paths, boldly innovating while maintaining core values ​​of professionalism, modernity, and humanistic principles.

Behind each photograph is a story that vividly reflects hot, topical events that are of particular interest to the public. A new feature of this year's "Journalistic Moment" awards ceremony is the division into three categories to further promote the strengths, discoveries, and dedication of journalists. With a fair and serious approach, the judging panel selected 42 high-quality works for exhibition. From this list, the judging panel further selected the best works to award prizes in the following categories: Current Affairs: 1 Gold, 1 Silver, 1 Bronze; Social Life: 1 Gold, 1 Silver, 1 Bronze; Sports: 1 Gold, 1 Silver, 1 Bronze.
