Spain will face Italy at Veltins Arena (Gelsenkirchen, Germany) in a match that is considered to decide the top spot in Group B of Euro 2024. Spain showed their strength when they beat Croatia 3-0 on the opening day while Italy struggled to defeat Albania 2-1.
Both teams have unchanged lineups from the opening match. Spain used the front three of Williams, Morata, Yamal while Rodri, Pedri, Fabian Ruiz played in midfield. Italy put their faith in the attacking quartet of Pellegrini, Scamacca, Flattesi and Chiesa.
Right after the opening whistle, Spain pushed up their formation in search of an early goal. In the second minute, Pedri jumped high to head the ball dangerously, but goalkeeper Donnarumma's talent saved the goal for Italy.
Spain continued to press the field, forcing Italy into a defensive position. In the 10th minute, Morata suddenly moved to the right wing and crossed for Nico Williams to head the ball close to the goal, but the ball went wide of the post.
Spain's attacks were varied and varied. In the 25th minute, Fabian Ruiz fired a shot from a distance that sent the ball flying. Goalkeeper Donarummma had to dive as far as he could to push the ball out of bounds.

The highlight of the match came in the 55th minute, Nico Williams crossed for Morata to head, Donnarumma continued to save brilliantly but he pushed the ball into Calafiori's own net, helping Spain lead 1-0.
Spain continued to dominate after the goal and in the 58th minute, Morata shot from a distance, forcing Donnarumma to save. Two minutes later, Lamine Yamal curled the ball into the Italian goal post.
Coach De La Fuente's team almost scored a second goal when Nico Williams broke through on the right wing and fired a shot past Donnarumma, but unfortunately the ball hit the crossbar in the 71st minute. Italy tried to push up the formation to find an equalizer, but they could not create any significant chances with crosses from both sides.
In the final minutes of stoppage time, goalkeeper Donnarumma continuously had amazing reflexes to help Italy avoid conceding another goal. The score of 1-0 was maintained until the end of the match and Spain became the second team after host Germany, to win a ticket to the round of 16 of Euro 2024.
After two matches in Group B of Euro 2024, Spain leads with 6 points, followed by Italy (3 points) and Albania, Croatia (both with 1 point). In the final match, Spain will face Albania while Italy will face Croatia.
