Posting false information on social networks, one person was fined 7.5 million VND

(CLO) Mr. BP (residing in Nam Giang district, Quang Nam province) has just been fined 7.5 million VND after posting on social media information with the content "need to replace the commune cadres of Nam Giang district, the cadres are underdeveloped, need to be retrained".


On January 9, Nam Giang District Police announced that they had just issued a decision to administratively sanction Mr. BP (residing in the locality) for the act of "Providing and sharing fake information, false information, distorting, slandering, insulting the reputation of agencies, organizations, honor and dignity of individuals", stipulated in Point a, Clause 1, Article 101 of Decree 15/2020/ND-CP dated February 3, 2020 of the Government regulating sanctions for administrative violations in the fields of post, telecommunications, radio frequencies, information technology and electronic transactions (amended and supplemented by Decree No. 14/2022/ND-CP dated January 27, 2022).

Accordingly, Mr. BP was fined 7.5 million VND.

Quang Nam is posting false information on social networks, one person was fined 75 million VND, 1 person was sentenced to 1 year in prison.

It is known that before that, Mr. BP posted information on social networks with the content "need to replace the commune cadres of Nam Giang district, the cadres have poor development level, need to be retrained".

After verifying, Nam Giang District Police issued a decision to punish Mr. BP for providing false information as mentioned above.

Authorities recommend that when participating in activities on cyberspace, people need to be careful in receiving information, verifying and filtering information before posting or sharing, avoiding posting false information or posting fabricated, self-inferred, and unfounded information.
