The street from Thach Bich bridge to National Highway 24B has been invested in and put into use for many years, but until now it has not been named.
It is known that currently in Quang Ngai city, there are about 50 roads with a cross-section of 5m or more that have not been named.
For example, the route connecting Thach Bich bridge to National Highway 24B through Tinh An Tay commune, Quang Ngai city, about 1.5km long, was put into operation by Quang Ngai province 6 years ago.
In addition to building a roadbed with 4 lanes for motor vehicles and 2 lanes for non-motor vehicles, this route also has a system of bridges, trees, sidewalks and a very systematic public lighting system.
This is one of the few roads that meet modern urban standards in Quang Ngai City. However, for many years, the vital traffic route connecting the northern bank of Tra Khuc River with the central urban area of Quang Ngai City has been "attached" to the name "Thach Bich Bridge Approach Road" instead of its official name.
Talking to the reporter of Giao thong Newspaper, Ms. Nguyet, who has a house on the street frontage, said that she bought land to build a house in Thach Bich residential area on the main street frontage, but for many years, she encountered many difficulties in trading goods and exchanging letters with partners because she did not have a clear address. This led to a situation where the partner's employees needed to exchange documents and papers all the way to my company's headquarters, but they could not find it because the headquarters did not have a house number. To make work easier, she had to go to the door to welcome them. Sometimes she had to send the location via phone so that they could find the house.
"A house without a number and a street without a name is very inconvenient, especially for business people like me. Even in tax declarations, contracts... the address is written in general terms without a specific address. I hope the province will soon name the street and assign house numbers to make it more convenient for people to work," said Ms. Nguyet.
The route from Tra Khuc 2 bridge to the bow of the ship through Truong Quang Trong ward, Quang Ngai city has been in use for more than 20 years but still has not been named.
As for Mr. Thuan, who lives on the road from Tran Ky Phong to Nguyen Cong Phuong through Nghia Lo ward, Quang Ngai city, he said: He is also a citizen of the city, living on a major road with sidewalks, trees, and lighting but no street name, so it is very inconvenient for business and work exchange even though he lives in the middle of the city, exactly 10m from Tran Ky Phong street, but the neighbor's house on the other side has a proper street name, while hundreds of cases like him are still nameless.
Similarly, the route from Tra Khuc 2 bridge to National Highway 1 through Truong Quang Trong ward was put into use in 2003, but until now, people living along the route still do not know the name of the route other than the self-named "bypass road".
Not only Quang Ngai City but also in urban areas and towns in this province, there are many unnamed roads with cross-sections of 5m-20m that have been invested in construction and put into use for a long time.
It is known that the number of named streets and urban roads in Quang Ngai province is only modest, with only 403 routes, although the province has 1 city, 1 town, 9 townships and 4 type V urban areas.
Building a street name bank to eliminate "houses without numbers and streets without names"
In addition to the streets in many towns, cities and townships that have not been named, in Quang Ngai province there are many type V urban areas with hundreds of large cross-section streets located in the center of the district capital but still have no street names.
Specifically, the urban areas of type V or about to be recognized as urban areas of type V including: Tinh Ha (Son Tinh), Long Hiep (Minh Long), Son Mua and Son Dung (Son Tay), Ly Son and Van Tuong still do not have any urban routes.
People in Di Lang town, Son Ha mountainous district, put up house number and street name plates after many years of waiting.
According to the leader of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai City, the unit is implementing the necessary procedures and when authorized by competent authorities, the unit will name 34 unnamed roads in the city center and suburban wards in 2024.
Faced with the reality of many streets and urban roads without names, causing difficulties for people, Quang Ngai province said it is developing a plan to implement naming the roads.
On March 6, the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province held a meeting to find solutions to build a project to name streets and public works.
Accordingly, the province plans to build 3 groups of street names including: Names of famous people, places, events, and beautiful words that have special, most typical meanings or have international, national or inter-national influence.
Names of historical figures, provincial leaders through the ages who were virtuous, talented, and contributed to the development of Quang Ngai province; names of famous historical figures in other provinces and cities; provincial-level place names; historical events, famous place names and landscapes of the province that are ranked...

Names of historical figures and leaders of local significance in the province who have made great contributions to the struggle for national liberation and the development of the locality; names of other famous historical figures and cities who have made great contributions to the development and names of historical events, places, scenic spots, etc.
At the meeting, Vice Chairman of Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee Tran Hoang Tuan said that the construction of a bank of street names, roads and public works is important, serving the naming and renaming of streets and public works.
Mr. Tuan requested that the construction of a street name bank must be scientific, accurate and should be implemented soon to have a street name bank to name roads, especially for main streets that have not been named for a long time, to contribute to the good implementation of urban management and administrative management.
