Dhillon Law Group confirmed that it is representing singer Dam Vinh Hung in the lawsuit against singer Bich Tuyen's husband - Mr. Gerard Richard Williams.
In the document, Dhillon Law Group stated that its client - singer Dam Vinh Hung - performed at a private concert and had an accident when a concrete fountain collapsed due to misuse. As a result, he had to have four toes amputated.
"Mr. Williams and the parties involved knew about the possibility of an accident but failed to take reasonable precautions. The fountain had been in disrepair for a long time, and a routine inspection would have detected this potential hazard and prevented such a tragedy," the law firm said.
They believe that the accident has caused serious, long-term effects on Dam Vinh Hung's performance ability and ability to maintain his position in the profession in the future.
"This is a preventable tragedy. No one should suffer life-changing injuries because of someone's negligence," said attorney Matthew Hoesly of Dhillon Law Group.
Currently, Dam Vinh Hung and the law firm have worked to supplement and amend many of the original lawsuit documents. The compensation will be adjusted significantly based on medical expenses, lost income and physical pain that the male singer has endured.
In addition, the group's legal team will continue to target a number of other individuals and organizations, ensuring that all parties involved are held accountable for their negligence.
As for Dam Vinh Hung, the male singer has just confirmed his cooperation with Dhillon Law Group in the lawsuit against Mr. Gerard Richard Williams. He thanked and remembered the previous contributions of lawyer Tu Huy Hoang and his associates.
Dhillon Law Group is widely known for representing President Donald Trump in a number of lawsuits. Specifically, Mr. Trump's refusal to release five years of tax returns under California law in 2019; his election activities in 2020; his subpoena by a special congressional committee in 2022; and his eligibility to run for office in Colorado in 2024.
Singer Dam Vinh Hung sued Mr. Gerard Richard Williams for 50 million USD (about 1,270 billion VND).
After the accident on February 19, 2024, he was seriously injured, had to amputate 4 toes, and canceled his schedule in March and April; claiming financial and mental damage, he sued for compensation.
The California Supreme Court accepted the case in November 2024. In early December, the singer announced that he had "withdrawn the lawsuit" and apologized to Mr. Gerard, then appointed a new attorney and withdrew his request to dismiss the lawsuit.
Meanwhile, Mr. Gerard countersued singer Dam Vinh Hung because he believed the male singer had insulted his honor and dignity and disrupted his family life.
The Orange County Superior Court of California decided to merge two civil cases because it found the same facts and events.
On July 7, the Court will hold a hearing at the request of one party. The formal hearing of the case will take place on September 22.
