The story revolves around single people facing pressure to "get married" from their families and society. To escape from a quick arranged marriage, Lụa (played by Meritorious Artist Kim Tuyen) decides to sign up for a trip. However, this trip is not smooth as it gathers single guests of all nationalities and skin colors, leading to a series of funny and sad situations on a deserted island.
Meritorious Artist Kim Tuyen and Quach Ngoc Tuyen in the play Wedding on the Islet
From the initial conflicts due to cultural and personality differences, they gradually find common ground in loneliness and their own feelings. In particular, the overseas Vietnamese Tony Dang (played by Quach Ngoc Tuyen) suddenly becomes Lua's lover through a coincidence. The deserted island that seemed like a place to escape becomes the "matchmaker" for funny and cute couples.
The wedding on the islet has a simple, gentle content, focusing on charmingly humorous situations. The most impressive is artist Huu Nghia in the role of Mr. Giau, a gold shop tycoon who likes to show off his wealth but is also very gentle and chivalrous with a natural, humorous quality. On the contrary, artist Quoc Thao in the role of Mr. Nam, a somewhat difficult old man from the West, has a slow and very "charming" way of speaking. Truong Phuc, although a young actor, has affirmed his talent through the role of Mr. Bay with his special makeup technique and voice, creating an impressive character in the chain of laughter of the play.
The male and female lead couple Quach Ngoc Tuyen and Kim Tuyen are familiar film actors, now participating in the stage, bringing a rustic performance, not forced or exaggerated, creating a deep sympathy in the hearts of the audience. Other young actors such as Sunny, Kim Quoc Nhan, Minh Huy, Thao Nhu... also invested carefully in costumes and found the characteristics of their characters.
A wedding on the sandbank is not only fun and entertaining, but also sends a meaningful message: Even when facing pressure from family or society, everyone has the right to decide their own happiness.
