Ensure import and export activities through border gates remain smooth

According to information from the Lang Son Provincial Customs Department, in the first quarter of 2024, the turnover of declarations opened at the Department reached over 1 billion USD, an increase of 27.3% over the same period in 2023. The total turnover of import and export goods of all types through the province is estimated at over 13.1 billion USD, an increase of 30.7% over the same period in 2023.

Of which, fresh fruit products reached over 900,000 tons, an increase of more than 58% over the same period in 2023. The main products are dragon fruit, durian, watermelon, mango, jackfruit... exported through Tan Thanh Border Gate and Huu Nghi International Border Gate.

Along with that, the volume of vehicles carrying goods through customs clearance across the border also increased. At the two international border gates Huu Nghi and Tan Thanh, the volume of vehicles carrying goods through customs clearance always accounts for 90% of the total volume of import and export vehicles in the area, with an average of about 1,000 vehicles/day, peaking at 1,200 vehicles/day.

In a report sent to the People's Committee of Lang Son province, the Management Board of Dong Dang - Lang Son Border Gate Economic Zone also said that in the first 3 months of 2024, the import and export of goods through border gates in the province in general and through Huu Nghi international border gate in particular basically took place smoothly and smoothly with very high customs clearance efficiency.

The volume of vehicles carrying imported and exported goods through Huu Nghi international border gate in the first quarter of 2024 reached 52,139 vehicles, an increase of 26.5% over the same period in 2023. The total import and export turnover of all types through Huu Nghi international border gate in the first quarter of 2024 reached about 12.7 billion USD, accounting for over 81% of the total import and export turnover of all types through Lang Son province.

Although, recently, during the day, vehicles not carrying Vietnamese goods entering to receive imported goods and vehicles carrying exported goods through Huu Nghi international border gate sometimes have to line up on National Highway 1A to wait for gradual regulation into the border gate area (vehicles still move slowly into the border gate area, customs clearance activities still take place normally) . Faced with this situation, the Management Board of Dong Dang - Lang Son Border Gate Economic Zone has directed the Border Gate Management Center to preside over and coordinate with functional forces at the border gate to continue to review and arrange parking areas for vehicles in the border gate area; organize exchanges with Khang Viet Ha Joint Stock Company to facilitate the regulation of vehicles entering and stopping at the Company's project area; work with Huu Nghi Lang Son Trading Company Limited to facilitate vehicles entering and stopping at the Company's parking lot (behind the International Service Center Building).

Accordingly, the Company has agreed and will not collect vehicle parking service fees from April 9, 2024 to April 11, 2024. Currently, the authorities have regulated vehicles to stop and park in this area.

At the same time, the Management Board of Dong Dang - Lang Son Border Gate Economic Zone organized an exchange and requested the Chinese side to direct the functional forces at Huu Nghi Quan international border gate to increase working hours during the day to facilitate the import and export vehicles of the two sides to clear customs and release the vehicles not carrying goods to return to the country.

As a result, the other side has coordinated to increase the customs clearance time at the specialized road for import and export of goods on April 4 and 5, 2024 to 20:00; at the exit and entry road and Ta Phu Son tunnel on April 4, 2024 to 20:30 to release the vehicles of both sides;...

The Border Guard Command of Lang Son province has directed the border guards at Huu Nghi international border gate to strengthen regulation and arrange vehicles in the border gate area to ensure maximum utilization of existing infrastructure to facilitate customs clearance of import and export goods.

The provincial police have directed the traffic police force to strengthen the regulation and arrangement of vehicles outside the border gate area, ensuring smooth traffic on National Highway 1A. Currently, the traffic police force is actively coordinating with the functional forces at Huu Nghi international border gate to gradually regulate vehicles entering the border gate area.

It is forecasted that in the coming time, the flow of goods to the border gates of Lang Son province will increase. Especially for fresh fruits because it is in the harvest season. The functional forces working at the border gates are implementing additional measures such as organizing overtime, increasing working hours, strengthening foreign relations, coordinating with the corresponding forces on the Chinese side... to ensure smooth import and export activities.
