Ensure supply of essential goods to serve the people

Phu Tho province is one of the localities affected by storm No. 3. Before the forecast of thunderstorms, many people went to supermarkets and traditional markets to buy essential goods to stock up during the period of implementing the recommendation to stay home. Authorities coordinated with supermarkets and traditional market traders to ensure the supply of essential goods as well as to prevent price increases before and after storm No. 3.

At Go! Supermarket (Viet Tri City), the number of customers shopping directly increased by about 30% and online customers increased by about 50% compared to normal days.

The supermarket has proactively worked with suppliers to increase the supply of vegetables and fruits by 2-3 times to avoid out-of-stock, shortages, and price hikes. Products with high purchasing power such as meat and dried foods will increase their quantity by 3-5 times. Suppliers have increased the delivery frequency to twice a day instead of once a day as usual.

Ms. Nguyen Phuong Tu - Zone 3, Duu Lau Ward, Viet Tri City said: "My family buys essential goods to ensure daily needs during the rainy and stormy days. Goods in supermarkets as well as traditional markets are abundant and prices have not fluctuated compared to normal."

Many people choose to go to traditional markets to buy necessities. Traders at Viet Tri City Center Market, Minh Phuong, Nong Trang... said that the number of customers increased dramatically. On the afternoon of September 6 and the morning of September 7, customers concentrated on buying some items such as pork, fish, vegetables, tubers... Although demand increased, the selling prices of these goods remained stable.

In order to respond to the impacts of storm No. 3 in the province affecting people's lives, on September 6, the Department of Industry and Trade issued Document No. 1044/SCT-KAM on "Deploying and being ready to perform the task of preventing and fighting storm No. 3". In which, it requires businesses to reserve goods to activate the plan to reserve essential goods, ready to serve people, especially in areas that are likely to be isolated by floods. At the same time, organize an assessment of the quality of the warehouse, fully stock the base and quantity of essential food, and prevent price increases, causing sudden price increases, affecting people's lives.

Authorities will strengthen market inspection and control, prevent speculative behavior and hoarding of goods for profit when demand for goods increases, causing market instability.
