According to forecasts, people's demand for goods will increase by 15-20% in the last month of the year, especially near Tet, focusing on groups of goods such as: food, fresh food; processed food; technological food; garments, footwear, fuel; electronics, household appliances and some other agricultural products...

Implementing the direction of the Provincial People's Committee, the Department of Industry and Trade has presided over and coordinated with relevant departments, branches and localities to grasp the market situation, avoid shortages of goods, interruptions in goods sources causing sudden price increases. Develop a distribution network of goods to rural, mountainous, remote and isolated areas and expand points of sale for price stabilization in districts, towns and cities.

Along with that, the department has planned and coordinated to organize trade promotion activities to stimulate consumption, stabilize the market; promote the implementation of the campaign "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods" to change the psychology and habits of consumers using foreign goods. For petroleum and liquefied petroleum gas products, the department has assigned Quang Tri Petroleum Company and petroleum businesses in the area to proactively reserve goods and have a sales plan to ensure production and people's living needs during the Lunar New Year.

In general, up to this point, the work of preparing goods to supply the market, ensuring supply-demand balance, and stabilizing the market has been carefully prepared by the Department of Industry and Trade and related units and enterprises, contributing to stabilizing market prices, well serving the shopping and consumption needs of the people during the upcoming Lunar New Year.

As one of the businesses with many years of experience in stockpiling and supplying goods to serve consumers during holidays and Tet, implementing the direction of the Provincial People's Committee and the Department of Industry and Trade, Co.opmart Dong Ha supermarket has stockpiled goods for the Lunar New Year 2025 with a total value of nearly 50 billion VND.

Of which, about 8 billion VND will be spent on price stabilization, committing not to increase prices before, during and after Tet, focusing on some essential goods such as rice, cooking oil, spices, jams, candies, cakes... to serve the needs of consumers. In addition, Co.opmart Dong Ha supermarket will also organize trips to bring Vietnamese goods to the countryside during the period before, during and after Tet, along with promotional programs, discounts from 10 - 30% on food, foodstuffs, household items, cosmetics... to serve people who do not have the conditions to go to the supermarket to shop.

Director of Co.opmart Dong Ha supermarket Dang Tu Minh San said: “The supermarket has imported a large quantity of products early, including fresh food, processed food, household goods, clothing and other consumer products. At the same time, it has established long-term contracts with reputable suppliers and brands in and outside the province to ensure uninterrupted supply of goods during the Tet holiday.

Not only focusing on stockpiling goods, Co.opmart Dong Ha supermarket also implements many attractive Tet promotion programs; strengthens product quality control to protect the health and interests of consumers. Currently, Co.opmart Dong Ha has arranged an area to display Tet products such as jam, melon seeds, wine, gift baskets, which are brightly decorated, creating a traditional Tet atmosphere and bringing convenience to customers when shopping.

The supermarket also promotes home delivery services, online shopping consultation via apps and hotlines, helping consumers easily choose and receive goods quickly and conveniently. This is an effective solution to meet shopping needs during peak days, while minimizing overload at checkout counters."

At traditional markets, since the end of November, traders have imported many types of jams, cakes, and goods to serve the consumer demand during Tet. Although, up to now, people's purchasing power is not high, the lots and stalls are full of rich and diverse Tet product models for customers to choose and buy.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhung, a grocery and cosmetics trader at Dong Ha market, said that the end of the year and Lunar New Year are usually the busiest times of the year due to the high demand for goods. To avoid shortages and price hikes, many traders at the market have stockpiled and imported goods with guaranteed origin, origin, and food safety to serve consumers at stable prices.

On the other hand, according to the reporter's records, the clear trend during this year's Tet holiday is the strong shift from direct shopping to online shopping. Online market activities on digital platforms from tiktok, facebook, zalo are always bustling with many promotional programs, year-end discounts, rich in product types and prices, creating a great attraction for consumers.

In 2024, trade and service activities in the province will have many positive changes. Total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue is estimated at VND 34,448.88 billion, up 12.82% over the previous year. Of which, retail sales of goods are estimated at VND 27,513.79 billion, up 12.83%.

According to forecasts by authorities, from January 1, 2025 to February 28, 2025, market prices will fluctuate, especially for processed foods, fresh foods, vegetables and fruits due to people's shopping and consumption needs increasing higher than in normal months.

Specifically, for rice, it is forecasted that prices will increase by about 1% - 2%; pork and beef may increase by 8% - 10%; chicken, duck and other aquatic and seafood prices may increase by 10% - 15%... Therefore, stabilizing the market at the end of the year not only contributes to ensuring the supply and prices of goods but also demonstrates the concern and responsibility of authorities and businesses for people's lives.

In the coming time, departments, branches and localities will continue to closely monitor market developments, supply and demand of essential goods, especially those with high demand or high price fluctuations in the area in recent times, to proactively develop plans or propose to competent authorities measures to ensure balance of supply and demand, stabilize the market, and avoid shortages or disruptions in goods sources, causing sudden price increases during the end of the year and Lunar New Year.

At the same time, enterprises, cooperatives, and production and business establishments also need to proactively and actively promote production, develop diverse systems and forms of goods distribution, mobile sales, and bring goods to remote, isolated, and rural areas so that people can access many products with diverse types and reasonable prices.
