On the afternoon of May 23, Chau Doc City People's Committee coordinated with An Giang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to hold a meeting to inform about the activities of organizing the festival of Ba Chua Xu Mountain Sam in 2024, combined with the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the festival being included in the list of national intangible cultural heritage (2014 - 2024).
According to the organizers, the 2024 Ba Chua Xu Mountain Sam Festival will have 7 special rituals such as the procession of the Lady's statue, street festival, Ba bathing ceremony, the ceremony to invite the divine decree, the ceremony to present and build the altar, the main ceremony, the ceremony to return the decree and festival events, events with the participation of domestic artists performing to serve the people and tourists.
Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan - Vice Chairman of Chau Doc City People's Committee - said that this year, the festival of Lady Chua Xu of Sam Mountain will take place from May 22 to June 3 (April 15 to 27 of the lunar calendar).
"The festival activities aim to preserve, honor and promote the value of the national intangible cultural heritage of the festival of Lady Chua Xu of Sam Mountain.
At the same time, aiming to both develop the socio-economy, promote and introduce to the people and domestic and foreign tourists the image of the land, people, scenic spots, historical relics and typical and unique cultural heritage values of the locality," said Mr. Tuan.
According to Mr. Tuan, the 2024 Ba Chua Xu Mountain Sam Festival will be carried out from many socialized funding sources, with nearly 15 billion VND, along with a part of the local counterpart funding.
The Management Board of the Sam Mountain Cultural, Historical and Tourist Relic Site has submitted a report and received approval from the Party Committee of the Provincial People's Committee, submitting it to the Provincial Party Committee for permission to exempt visitors from entrance fees for 7 days, from May 28 to June 3.
Mr. Truong Ba Trang - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of An Giang - added that the Provincial People's Committee has directed units, especially security forces and Chau Doc City, to implement many measures and plans to ensure safety for tourists coming to participate in the festival.
