Accordingly, at around 20:20 on April 13, while on leave at home, Captain Pham Duc Khang helped his wife deliver an item to a customer. While passing Pham Van Dong Street, in Bac Tu Liem District, Hanoi , Mr. Khang saw a brown leather wallet falling on the sidewalk and stopped to pick it up. After waiting for a while without seeing the owner come to look for the property, Mr. Khang decided to open the wallet to check, and found inside 6,279,000 VND in cash and many other important personal documents, including a piece of paper with the ATM card's bank transfer password. All personal documents were in the name of Mr. Dinh Doan Thu.

After trying several ways to contact the owner without success, early in the morning of April 14, Captain Pham Duc Khang went to report the incident to the battalion commander and asked him to find a way to contact and return the property to the owner, because in addition to a large amount of cash, there were many important documents and contents.
Upon receiving the employee's report, Major Vu Tat Hung, Political Commissar of Battalion 3, re-checked the assets and documents in the wallet, in the presence of several officers in the unit, then instructed Captain Pham Duc Khang to bring Mr. Dinh Doan Thu's citizen identification card to the address where he registered his permanent residence, meet with a representative of the local police to ask for assistance in finding information, and invite the owner to come to the unit to receive the assets.

Early in the morning of April 15, the unit contacted Mr. Dinh Doan Thu and just a few hours later, he and his daughter were present at Battalion 3, Brigade 144 to complete the procedures to receive back his property that had unfortunately been lost. Receiving the wallet back, checking that it still contained all the cash and important documents, Mr. Thu was excited and moved, expressing his thanks to Captain Pham Duc Khang and the commander of Battalion 3, Brigade 144.
“Up to now, I have always respected the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers. Through the noble actions of Captain Pham Duc Khang and the officers and commanders of the unit this time, I love and believe in the noble qualities of soldiers even more. Although the amount of money is not too large, it is very meaningful to me, not to mention, there are many other important documents and information, if falling into the wrong hands, it will cause unpredictable consequences", Mr. Dinh Doan Thu emotionally shared.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Bui Duc Cuong, Political Commissar of Brigade 144, the actions of Captain Pham Duc Khang mentioned above are "daily events" for the officers and soldiers of the unit. Every year, Brigade 144 has dozens of shining examples of picking up lost property, finding ways to return it to the owner, or bravely chasing robbers, reclaiming property for the victims, which are deeply moved and loved by the people. Those noble actions, deeds, and images have contributed to further enhancing the tradition of "Solid as steel, steadfast as copper, clear as mirror" of the heroic "guard" unit.
