General Vo Nguyen Giap ordered the units "Fast, faster, bolder, bolder"

On April 7, 1975, General Commander-in-Chief Vo Nguyen Giap ordered his units: “Faster, faster, bolder, bolder. Seize every hour, every minute, rush to the southern liberation front. Determined battle and total victory.”

On the morning of April 7, 1975, General Vo Nguyen Giap, Minister of Defense and Commander-in-Chief, sent telegram No. 157-HDKTK to the units with the order: “Faster, faster, bolder, bolder, seize every hour and minute, rush to the front, liberate the South. Determined battle and total victory!”

On the same day, April 7, 1975, leaving the 324th Division behind to protect the newly liberated Hue and Da Nang, the Coastal Army, consisting of the majority of the 2nd Corps reinforced by the 3rd Division and the 3rd Armored Battalion of Military Region 5, divided into 5 blocks, began marching along Route 1 to the south.

The Corps' marching formation was quite long, including more than 2,500 vehicles carrying troops, armored tanks, artillery tractors... The total number of troops participating in the march was more than 32,000 people.

The motto was "fight the enemy while moving, open the way while advancing" so that by April 25, 1975 at the latest, we must be present at the campaign assembly area in Rung La (20km from Xuan Loc) to prepare for the decisive strategic battle.

In Ninh Thuan, the province's 311th Special Forces Company attacked deep into the center of Thap Cham town, destroyed the enemy, controlled the train station, Mang area and the intersection of the road to Thanh Son airport.

After receiving the telegram from the Commander-in-Chief, on April 7, 1975, at the Ta Thiet-Loc Ninh base, the Central Bureau and the Military Commission of the Region met and proposed the policy: “While urgently preparing for a large-scale campaign plan, in order to gain time, create and take advantage of new breakthroughs, the B.2 force will launch a campaign to strategically divide and completely encircle and divide Saigon. If the enemy suddenly disintegrates, it is not necessary to wait for enough forces from the outside to enter, but can quickly and boldly, using the B.2 force and some reinforced units, attack directly into Saigon, combine with special forces, commandos and the uprising masses from within to capture Saigon”.

Receiving the report from the Central Bureau on the plan to liberate Saigon, First Secretary of the Party Central Committee Le Duan directed: We need to wait for the majority of the 3rd and 1st Corps to arrive before starting the attack. Once the attack has begun, we must attack strongly and continuously, continuously until we win completely, both attacking on the outskirts and seizing the opportunity to penetrate deep into the center of Saigon from many directions with the prepared forces.

With the spirit of competition to support the South, in February, March and April 1975, Military Region 2 carried out three consecutive recruitment campaigns and exceeded the target. The entire Military Region reached 104.3%, of which Vinh Phu had 104.3%, Yen Bai 106%, Lao Cai 102%. By the day the South was completely liberated, there were 209,528 young people, the elite children of the ethnic people in Military Region 2, joining the armed forces, equivalent to 20 divisions.
