Attending the meeting were General Pham Van Tra, Hero of the People's Armed Forces, former member of the Politburo, former Minister of National Defense , former Commander of Regiment 1 U Minh; Senior Lieutenant General Mai Quang Phan, former member of the Party Central Committee, former Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, former Commander of Battalion 303, Regiment 1 U Minh.
Also attending were veterans of U Minh Regiment 1 through the periods in Nghe An province and relatives of 25 families of martyrs of the Regiment.

U Minh Regiment 1 was established on September 23, 1963, the first main regiment of the Southwest region, named after the revolutionary base "Unyielding U Minh".
The feats associated with famous battles and places such as Cha La, Luc Phi, Co Tuat, Kinh Xuoi, Dam Doi, Vinh Thuan in the resistance war against the US; Phu Cuong, Vinh Dieu, Bac Dai in the war to protect the southwestern border; Ta Keo, Can Dan, Tuc Soc in the fight to help our Cambodian friends... are forever milestones in the history of the Regiment.

U Minh Regiment 1 is a unit that was honored by the State as a Hero of the People's Armed Forces three times (in 1973, 1975 and 1989). There are 3 battalions, 6 companies and 26 officers and soldiers who were awarded or posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces. Many outstanding officers have become generals and senior officers in the army, including 23 comrades who were awarded the rank of general...
At the meeting, delegates reviewed the glorious traditions of the Regiment.

Speaking at the meeting, General Pham Van Tra and Senior Lieutenant General Mai Quang Phan reviewed the glorious achievements of the Regiment's officers and soldiers in the resistance wars against the US, to save the country, the border war and to fulfill noble international duties.
At the meeting, the Association for Supporting Families of Vietnamese Martyrs of Nghe An province and accompanying units presented gifts to relatives of 25 martyrs of the Regiment.
