The Quang Nam - Da Nang Postal Martyrs Memorial, a place to commemorate 596 postal heroes, has just been recognized as a city-level historical relic.
The People's Committee of Ngu Hanh Son District (Da Nang City) has just held a ceremony to announce the decision to rank and receive the Certificate of City-level Historical Relic for the Memorial Monument for Martyrs of the Quang Nam - Da Nang Postal Industry.
The Memorial of Martyrs of the Quang Nam - Da Nang Postal Service (72 Le Van Hien Street, Khue My Ward, Ngu Hanh Son District, Da Nang) is a place to commemorate 596 heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the Quang Nam - Da Nang region during the two resistance wars against France and the US.
The heroic postal martyrs were resilient, persistent, resourceful, brave, day and night crossing checkpoints, risking their lives on the information front, contributing to ensuring the information flow for the revolution and making great contributions to the cause of national liberation.
The relic site has a total area of over 4,000m², including many items such as monuments, tombstones and a 13m high flagpole. The relic site has a solemn statue of hero Kim Dong, along with two rows of tombstones commemorating postal soldiers of 18 districts of Quang Nam - Da Nang such as Hiep Duc, Hoa Vang, Dai Loc...
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Khanh Nga, Director of Da Nang Post Office, through two resistance wars, the postal and information sector of Quang Da province (formerly) established 130 information stations, 300 liaison teams; received and delivered more than 22 million documents, newspapers, official dispatches, more than 20 million letters, 3,350 tons of weapons and ammunition; transported more than 450,000 cadres and soldiers; fought in more than 275 battles to maintain the lifeblood of the communications sector of zone 5.

Permanent Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Ho Ky Minh said that throughout the struggle for national independence until the country was completely unified, the land of Quang Nam - Da Nang has recorded many silent feats of heroic postal and information delivery soldiers.
Their brave and heroic spirit has entered people's hearts with many glorious victories, fierce attacks, fierce political struggles, and resilient Party and Youth Union groups...
As soon as peace was restored in 1975, the staff of the Post Office contributed to building the Memorial to commemorate the fallen postmen. This is also a red address to educate generations about the patriotism and love of the profession of their predecessors.

"With these typical values, Da Nang has decided to rank the Memorial of martyrs of the Quang Nam - Da Nang Postal Service as a city-level historical relic, to honor and affirm the historical value of the relic, demonstrating the recognition of the Party, State and city government for the great contributions of the information and communication industry up to now," said Mr. Ho Ky Minh.
The Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee also requested the Department of Culture and Sports, Da Nang Post Office, the authorities and people of Ngu Hanh Son district to join hands in managing, protecting and sustainably promoting the values of the Quang Nam - Da Nang Postal Martyrs Memorial.
Previously, on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of the Information and Communications Industry's Traditional Day, a delegation led by Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Phan Tam offered incense at the cemetery and memorial of the Quang Nam - Da Nang Postal Industry.
At the incense offering ceremony, seeing a faded stele, Deputy Minister Phan Tam asked the representative of Da Nang City Post Office to quickly renovate and repaint it; at the same time, he shared that the Memorial will be recognized as a city-level historical relic according to the proposal of the Da Nang Department of Culture and Sports.
