Dai Tu (Thai Nguyen): Striving to reduce the rate of ethnic minority poor households in the period of 2024-2029 to below 6.5% according to new criteria

Dai Tu district currently has 181,800 people, of which ethnic minorities account for 32.9%. The 4th Congress of Ethnic Minorities in Dai Tu district continues to affirm and recognize the great contributions of ethnic minorities in solidarity, implementing ethnic policies, poverty reduction and building new rural areas in the period of 2019 - 2024.

The congress is also an opportunity to honor and commend outstanding collectives and individuals among ethnic minorities, encourage and promote the strength of great solidarity among ethnic groups, love for the homeland and country, the will of national self-reliance and self-reliance, and promote the fine traditional cultural values ​​of ethnic minorities in the district.

The report at the Congress showed that, in recent years, thanks to the effective implementation of ethnic work and ethnic policies, the socio-economic situation, political security, and social order and safety in ethnic minority areas in the district have always been ensured; social security policies and ethnic policies have been fully, promptly and effectively implemented.

In the period of 2021-2025, from the National Target Program on Socio -Economic Development of Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas, Dai Tu District will implement 7/10 projects with a total investment capital of nearly 80 billion VND. Many infrastructure works have been invested to meet the living and production needs of ethnic minority people.

In the work of sustainable poverty reduction in ethnic minority areas, many poor and near-poor households have benefited from poverty reduction policies; the most basic issues for poor households such as vocational training, job referrals, housing support, health insurance cards, support for study costs, etc. have been resolved promptly and in accordance with regulations. According to the multidimensional poverty standard applied for the period 2022 - 2025, in the district there are 1,272 poor ethnic minority households/16,592 households, accounting for 7.67%; In the two years of 2022 and 2023, Dai Tu district reduced 638 multidimensional poor households of ethnic minorities, equivalent to 3.91%, an average reduction of 1.95%/year ( exceeding the set plan of 1.3 %/year) . In the period of 2024-2029, Dai Tu district strives to reduce the rate of ethnic minority poor households to below 6.5% according to new criteria.

In addition, implementing the policies of the Party and the State, the new rural construction program has been vigorously deployed in communes and towns. In 2019, the district had 15 communes recognized as meeting the standards. Up to now, the whole district has 27/27 communes meeting the standards, of which 05 communes have met the standards of advanced new rural communes (Tien Hoi, La Bang, Ha Thuong, Hoang Nong, Ky Phu) . Dai Tu district will meet the new rural standards in 2023, 01 year earlier than the target of the Resolution of the Dai Tu District Party Congress for the term 2020 - 2025.

With the effectiveness of implementing ethnic work and ethnic policies, up to now, 29/29 communes and towns in Dai Tu district have asphalt and concrete roads to the commune center, 100% of communes have commune and inter-commune roads hardened according to regulations of the Ministry of Transport; The system of schools, medical stations and hospitals in the area has been gradually completed; the power line system and transformer stations are regularly renovated and upgraded, 100% of households in the district have access to the national grid and other power sources, telephone and internet coverage; over 99% of people have access to clean water for daily use.

The material and spiritual life of ethnic minorities is increasingly improved, the appearance of ethnic minority and mountainous areas is increasingly renewed and has many improvements. Through the effective implementation of policies and guidelines on socio-economic development of the district, it has contributed to improving the material and spiritual life of the people, maintaining political security, social order and safety and developing the local socio-economy.

On this occasion, the Provincial People's Committee, the Provincial Ethnic Minorities Committee and the Dai Tu District People's Committee commended many collectives and individuals with achievements in ethnic work in the period of 2019-2024. The Congress also approved the Resolution and elected delegates to attend the Thai Nguyen Provincial Ethnic Minorities Congress.

In the period 2024 - 2029, Bat Xat district (Lao Cai) strives to reduce over 7.2% of poor households each year.
