The Great Victory of Spring 1975 with a new era of development of the Vietnamese people

Attending and chairing the workshop were Politburo members: Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia; Minister of National Defense, General Phan Van Giang; Minister of Public Security, General Luong Tam Quang; Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen.

Co-chairs were: Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, Senior Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet; Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of National Defense, Senior Lieutenant General Le Huy Vinh; Director of the Vietnam Institute of Defense Strategy and History, Lieutenant General Vu Cuong Quyet.

Also attending were: former Standing Member of the Party Central Committee Secretariat, General Le Hong Anh; Party Central Committee Member, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Quang Phuong; Party Central Committee Member, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh and leaders and former leaders of central departments, ministries and branches, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, leaders and former leaders of Ho Chi Minh City.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Minister of National Defense Phan Van Giang emphasized that in the spring of 1975, under the leadership of the Politburo and the Command of the General Command of the Vietnam People's Army, our army and people successfully carried out the General Offensive and Uprising to liberate the South and unify the country. This was the greatest victory of the national liberation struggle led by our Party; it was a glorious and brilliant page in the history of the Vietnamese people's path to building and defending the country.

The great victory of the General Offensive and Uprising in the Spring of 1975 is a testament to the Party's proactive and creative revolutionary line and correct leadership method; it is a victory of the strength of people's war, a vivid expression of patriotism closely combined with the will to unify the Fatherland and the aspiration for peace, of the strength of national unity combined with the strength of the times. The historical lessons from the Great Victory in the Spring of 1975 will forever be a great resource for generations of Vietnamese people to continue to strive and be creative in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.

Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen said that, promoting the spiritual values ​​of the Great Victory of Spring 1975 and fulfilling the historical mission in the new era, Ho Chi Minh City today is a worthy continuation of what the previous generations have achieved. 50 years after the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country, through many challenges and hardships, the Party Committee, government and people of Ho Chi Minh City have always maintained the revolutionary tradition of resilience, solidarity, dynamism, creativity, daring to think, daring to do, daring to take responsibility, promoting the intelligence, enthusiasm and potential of the people, joining hands and unanimity to overcome all difficulties and challenges, making important contributions to the common achievements of the country.

In his opening speech at the workshop, Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia emphasized that the Great Victory of Spring 1975 was one of the brilliant milestones in the history of the modern Vietnamese nation, demonstrating the great stature of the will for independence, self-reliance and the spirit of great national unity. The historical values ​​of this great victory continue to be a strong source of encouragement for the entire Party, people and army in the cause of building a prosperous and happy country, aiming to become a developed, high-income country by 2045.

The workshop focused on five key contents. Firstly, clarifying the wise and correct leadership role of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh throughout the revolutionary journey, especially in the resistance war against the US to save the country. Secondly, analyzing the domestic and international historical context before and during the General Offensive and Uprising in the Spring of 1975. Thirdly, affirming the heroic, courageous, resilient and creative fighting spirit of the armed forces and people of the whole country, especially the army and people of the South. Fourthly, emphasizing the great role of the great rear area in the North - which provided human and material resources to the battlefield in the South, along with the strong support of international friends. Fifthly, comprehensively assessing the stature, historical significance, reasons for victory and lessons learned from the resistance war against the US to save the country in general and the Great Victory in the Spring of 1975 in particular.

Concluding the workshop, Minister of Public Security Luong Tam Quang emphasized that the workshop is an important event in the series of activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification. The presentations at the workshop had rich content, contributing to clarifying a number of important contents, including many new explanations, analyses and assessments that deepened the Great Victory of Spring 1975 with the new era of development of the Vietnamese nation.

The workshop is an opportunity for the entire Party, the entire army and the entire people to review the heroic and indomitable fighting tradition of the nation; to express deep gratitude to the Party's senior leaders, heroic martyrs, heroic Vietnamese mothers, heroes of the people's armed forces, war invalids, sick soldiers, and families with meritorious services to the revolution; to thank friends and the international community for their support and assistance in the past resistance war against invaders, as well as in the current cause of national construction and defense.

The results of the conference will contribute to fostering patriotism, national pride and self-respect; strengthening the belief and political determination of the entire Party, people and army to successfully implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress; at the same time, fighting against wrong views that deny the nation's long-term resistance war and the great revolutionary cause of our people.

Through the workshop, we continue to affirm and deepen the stature and historical significance of the Great Victory of Spring 1975; draw experiences and historical lessons to apply to the cause of building and firmly defending the Fatherland in the new era - the era of the Vietnamese people's rise, for peace, independence, democracy, wealth, prosperity, civilization, happiness, and advancing towards socialism.
