The presentations by experts from leading historical research institutions across the country focused on the following main contents:
Firstly, it is affirmed that the victory of the General Offensive and Uprising in the Spring of 1975 was the victory of the Vietnamese spirit that had been forged over thousands of years of history, developing to its peak in the Ho Chi Minh era. In particular, under the leadership of the Party, the Vietnamese spirit shone brightly, gradually defeating the US war strategies, winning step by step towards the complete victory with the Great Victory in the Spring of 1975. In other words, the Vietnamese spirit under the Party's talented leadership was one of the especially important factors that contributed to the Great Victory in the Spring of 1975.
With Vietnamese spirit, we "dared to fight, knew how to fight and determined to defeat" the invading American imperialists, completely liberated the South, unified the country, and brought the country into a new era: the era of unification, the whole country moving forward to build socialism.
Second, the Great Victory of Spring 1975 was an affirmation of the absolute victory of Vietnamese intelligence in the confrontation with the invading enemy. It was the gathering of intelligence of the entire Party, the entire army, and the entire people, specifically the strategic direction of the Party in quickly seizing strategic opportunities to win the resistance war, of the ingenuity of Vietnamese military art, of the combination of national strength with the strength of the times, of promoting the strength of forces such as the People's Public Security, the Militia and Self-Defense Force and Guerrillas, the Military Medicine, of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, of the art of Vietnamese diplomacy.
With this great victory, the Vietnamese army and people under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam defeated the largest-scale, longest-lasting, and most fierce neo-colonial war of aggression since World War II.
The Vietnamese spirit and intelligence led to the great victory of the resistance war against the US to save the country with the Great Victory in the Spring of 1975. During this war, "six successive US Presidents established strategic plans, spent nearly 700 billion dollars, mobilized 22,000 enterprises with nearly 6 million industrial workers and more than 1/3 of the total number of scientists, 260 US universities participated in researching strategic plans to manufacture and produce weapons and means of war; mobilized 6.5 million US soldiers to directly participate in the war, at the peak there were more than half a million soldiers in the South...", but in the end they failed before the spirit and intelligence of a heroic nation.
Third, 50 years have passed, the Great Victory of Spring 1975 remains a shining symbol of revolutionary heroism, affirming the mettle and intelligence of Vietnam in the Ho Chi Minh era; a brilliant milestone in the history of our people's struggle against foreign invaders. This victory "will forever be recorded in our nation's history as one of the most brilliant pages, a shining symbol of the complete victory of revolutionary heroism and human intelligence, and will go down in world history as a great feat of the 20th century, an event of great international importance and profound contemporary significance".
