Colonel Nguyen Khac Nguyet, Head of the Veterans Liaison Committee of the 203rd Tank Brigade (2nd Corps), expressed that the proposal to posthumously award the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces during the resistance war against the US to save the country proves that the contributions and achievements of Colonel Bui Van Tung have been recognized by all levels in the army and proposed to the Party and State to posthumously award the noble title.
"It can be said that this is a correct decision, demonstrating the fairness and objectivity in the awarding process of the units, meeting the wishes of the majority of veterans and people who love history.
Looking back at his dedication and achievements in work and combat since joining the revolution, we see that Colonel Bui Van Tung is completely worthy of that noble title.
The only regret is that if it had come a little sooner so that he could have received this title while he was still alive, it would have been more perfect," Colonel Nguyet shared.
At the Independence Palace's Reception Room, on May 16, 1975, President Ton Duc Thang hugged and kissed Political Commissar Bui Van Tung - representative of the 5 Saigon Liberation Army wings.
