Russian Ambassador shares the focus of President Vladimir Putin's visit to Vietnam

"The past three decades have been marked by dynamic expansion and diversification of bilateral cooperation," Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Prof. Bezdetko affirmed in comments made ahead of Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to Vietnam.

According to the Ambassador, Russian President Vladimir Putin has visited Vietnam four times. The results of the meetings and negotiations have created a good foundation for relations at the highest level.

The Ambassador assessed that the upcoming visit of President Vladimir Putin aims to create more momentum to develop Russia-Vietnam cooperation in many fields.

The visit is expected to include talks with President To Lam, meetings with General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man.

"After the visit, it is expected to adopt a Joint Statement as well as sign a package of cooperation documents in the fields of higher education, justice, customs regulations, healthcare, energy as well as through scientific organizations," the Russian Ambassador said.

He also affirmed that the focus of the visit is to enhance interactions in traditional areas such as economics and investment, science and technology, education and training, culture and tourism, humanitarian exchanges, as well as defense and security.

Sharing about the potential in the upcoming cooperation, the Ambassador informed that Russia supports the enhancement of multi-platform cooperation, first of all the Eurasian Economic Union, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and ASEAN for the benefit of strengthening economic ties and forming the Greater Eurasian Partnership.

At the same time, Russia also attaches great importance to efforts to combat climate change and in the field of a just energy transition.

"We are ready to cooperate with Vietnam in the field of clean energy and decarbonization of the economy. Russia, as one of the world's leading countries in this field, is ready to provide Vietnam with the most modern technologies in the field of "clean", reliable and stable" electricity, first of all nuclear power - this is what many Asian countries choose as an alternative to traditional energy sources," the Ambassador said. At the same time, Russia and Vietnam can continue to actively expand cooperation in the fields of education, cultural exchange, people-to-people exchange, etc.

"President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly spoken about the close relations between Russia and Vietnam over the past decades. We have a rich common history, extensive experience in cooperation in most areas, extensive political dialogue, highly dynamic humanitarian exchanges, similar values ​​and development orientations," the Ambassador said.

On that basis, the Ambassador believes that this is a reliable foundation to further develop bilateral relations and constantly consolidate and develop the comprehensive strategic partnership between Russia and Vietnam in the current period.

At the invitation of General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin will pay a State visit to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam from June 19 to June 20, 2024.

The visit takes place at a time when the two countries are celebrating the 30th anniversary of the signing of the "Treaty on the Fundamental Principles of Friendly Relations between the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Russian Federation" (Vietnam-Russia Friendship Treaty) (June 16, 1994 - June 16, 2024), towards the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the Russian Federation in 2025.
