On the evening of April 19, SCTV Station issued an official announcement regarding the offensive statement of editor and MC Bich Hong.
According to the announcement, MC Bich Hong used to work with SCTV4 as a program host. SCTV said that Bich Hong was not an official staff member of the station, but only a collaborator who participated in some programs in the previous period.
Regarding the controversial statement of the female MC, SCTV said that this is a personal opinion, unrelated and does not represent the views of the station.
In addition, SCTV announced that it has terminated all cooperation activities, use of images and broadcasting of programs related to MC Bich Hong, since April 19.
"SCTV always upholds the spirit of social responsibility, respects the historical - cultural - political values of the country and wishes to spread positive and humane information with the community. We sincerely thank the attention and comments from our viewers, partners and media agencies," the station said.
On the evening of April 18, in Ho Chi Minh City, a joint military parade and march took place to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country. Many central roads were announced to be closed to traffic from 6pm to midnight to serve the joint training activities of the forces. People were all happy, recording the heroic moments of the nation.
However, social media later spread a post shared by an account of MC Bich Hong. The female MC complained about the parade causing traffic jams for hours on the evening of April 18.
This MC wrote: “Thank you for the parade. Thanks to that, instead of 45 minutes from District 12 to District 7, now it takes 1 hour and 30 minutes to move little by little on the street. As someone born and raised in Saigon, I beg your pardon because it is very annoying.”
The female MC's statement caused outrage. Many opinions said that as a television worker, Bich Hong's statement was difficult to accept.
In response, the female MC locked all her social media accounts. She also quickly deleted the above post.
