Throughout the history of building and defending the country, King Tran Nhan Tong was one of the genius leaders, the hero of the nation. Regarding Buddhism, he was the only king in the world who gave up the throne to become a monk and attained enlightenment, unifying Vietnamese Buddhism at that time, forming the Truc Lam Buddhist Sangha with strong Vietnamese Buddhist characteristics. On November 1, Mau Than year (1308), the First Patriarch Tran Nhan Tong entered nirvana at Ngoa Van peak, Tu Tieu hermitage, Yen Tu mountain, at the age of 51.

Through many historical changes, Truc Lam Buddhism has left behind a huge treasure of tangible and intangible heritage with a system of relics, archaeological sites and literary and artistic works. This is an extremely valuable spiritual and cultural asset, accompanying the history of national culture for today and tomorrow.
