The 10th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, term 2024

With the approval of the Central Party Secretariat, the 10th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front for the 2024-2029 term will take place on October 16, 17 and 18, 2024 in Hanoi.

As of August 31, 2024, 62/63 provinces and cities have organized the Fatherland Front Congress for the 2024-2029 term, (reaching a rate of 98.41%). Ho Chi Minh City, due to objective reasons, will organize the Congress on October 2-3, 2024.

According to the synthesis of the results of 62/63 Provincial Congresses of the Vietnam Fatherland Front for the 2024-2029 term, 5,612 members of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee were elected, an increase of more than 4.49% compared to the 2019-2024 term (before the Provincial Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the number of Committee members was 5,360 people).

It is expected that nearly 1,400 delegates will attend the 10th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front for the 2024-2029 term. Of these, there will be 1,052 official delegates; 583 allocated delegates; and 132 appointed delegates.

In terms of structure, the Congress has 324 female delegates (30.7%); 492 delegates are non-Party members (46.7%); 267 delegates are ethnic minorities (25.3%); 198 delegates are religious dignitaries (18.8%): 20 delegates are overseas Vietnamese (1.9%); 152 delegates are businessmen representing the business sector; 271 delegates are full-time Front officials (25.7%).

In terms of qualifications, there are 912 delegates (86.7%) with a university degree or higher (56 delegates are Professors, Associate Professors - PhDs; 85 delegates have a PhD; 225 delegates have a Master's degree) and 546 delegates have a university or bachelor's degree.

In terms of age, there are 18 delegates (1.7%) under 30 years old; 127 delegates (12%) from 31 to 40 years old; 294 delegates (27.9%) from 41 to 50 years old; 319 delegates (30.3%) from 51 to 60 years old; 184 delegates (17.4%) from 61 to 70 years old; 86 delegates (8.2%) from 71 to 80 years old; 24 delegates (2.3%) from 81 years old and above.

Youngest delegate: 20 years old, born in 2004 (Ms. Thi Ha, a representative of the Stieng ethnic group, Phu Nghia commune, Bu Gia Map district, Binh Phuoc province).

The oldest delegate: 95 years old, born in 1929 (Major General Vo So, Chairman of the Truong Son - Ho Chi Minh Trail Traditional Association of Vietnam).

The expected guest delegates are about 300 delegates, including leaders and former leaders of the Party, State, and Vietnam Fatherland Front; leaders of central and local departments, ministries, and branches; representatives of diplomatic agencies and international organizations in Vietnam; leaders and reporters of central and local news and press agencies; and a number of foreign press agencies residing in Vietnam.

It is expected that the number of members of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front for the 10th term will be 405 delegates (an increase of 20 compared to the 9th term). Of these, 249 delegates will be re-elected (61.5%), and 156 new delegates (38.5%).

The expected number of members of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front for the 10th term is 72 delegates (an increase of 10 compared to the 9th term). Of these, 49 delegates will be re-elected (68.1%), while only 23 delegates will be elected (31.9%).

The 10th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, term 2024 - 2029, has the theme of the Congress: "Solidarity - Democracy - Innovation - Creativity - Development" with the key report being: "Enhancing the core political role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, promoting democracy, tradition, and the strength of great national unity, contributing to building an increasingly prosperous and civilized country, so that our people can have a prosperous and happy life".

The program of activities of the 10th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front for the 2024-2029 term will include 6 contents: (1) Strengthening propaganda, mobilization, gathering people of all walks of life, strengthening social consensus, promoting the strength of the great national unity bloc. (2) Improving the quality and effectiveness of social supervision and criticism, implementing democracy, participating in Party and State building. (3) Encouraging people of all walks of life to compete, be creative, and effectively carry out campaigns and emulation movements. (4) Promoting the role of mastery and self-management of the people, building a united, prosperous, and happy residential area. (5) Improving the effectiveness of people's foreign affairs and work with overseas Vietnamese. (6) Continuing to innovate the organizational structure, content and methods of operation; improving the capacity of the Front's staff at all levels.
