Congress of the Trade Union of the Transport Sector

During the 2023-2028 term, the Thanh Hoa Transport and Communications Sector Trade Union will innovate its content and methods of operation; focus on enhancing its role in representing and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of its members and workers; and pioneer in realizing the aspiration to build a civilized and prosperous Thanh Hoa homeland.

On June 17th, the Thanh Hoa Transport Sector Trade Union held its 17th Congress for the 2023-2028 term. Attending the congress were Comrade Vo Manh Son, Provincial Party Committee member and Chairman of the Provincial Federation of Labor; Nguyen Van Khien, Director of the Department of Transport; leaders of the Vietnam Transport Trade Union; and 121 delegates representing over 3,600 union members and workers throughout the sector.

During the past term, the Trade Union of the Transport Sector reformed its content and methods of operation, focusing on the grassroots level, protecting the rights and interests of union members and workers, effectively organizing patriotic emulation movements, and fulfilling the goals and tasks set forth in the Resolution of the 16th Congress of the Transport Sector Trade Union.

The work of representing, protecting the rights and interests of union members has been implemented through many specific programs such as: "Tet Reunion," "Workers' Month - Reaching out to workers," "Listening to workers, speaking for workers to hear," "Thanking members," "Honoring outstanding workers," etc. During the term, trade unions at all levels visited, supported, and presented gifts to nearly 2,000 union members in difficult circumstances with a total amount of over 1 billion VND; and provided financial support for the construction of "Trade Union Shelters" for 8 families of union members in difficult circumstances with a total amount of 350 million VND.

Overview of the Congress.

Implementing the "Welfare for Union Members and Workers" Program, the industry's trade union proactively sought partners, organized negotiations, and signed four new cooperation agreements, bringing many benefits to union members and helping thousands of union members and workers in the industry access and use preferential products and services, with a total benefit amount of 250 million VND.

In implementing Resolution 07c/NQ-BCH of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor on "The quality of workers' lunch breaks," 15 out of 26 enterprises in the industry provide lunch breaks for workers costing between 20,000 and 45,000 VND.

A large number of union members and workers attended the Congress.

Patriotic emulation movements continue to innovate, attracting a large number of cadres, union members, and workers to participate. Through these emulation movements, many advanced models have emerged, many innovative solutions have been applied in practice, many valuable scientific research projects have generated billions of dong in benefits, and many new high-quality projects and products have been put into use. During the past term, the entire sector had 366 initiatives and 175 emulation projects and products recognized, generating tens of billions of dong in benefits.

The Congress objectively and comprehensively reviewed and assessed the achievements and shortcomings, while drawing lessons learned from the implementation of the Resolution of the Thanh Hoa Transport Sector Trade Union Congress, term 2018-2023; and determined the goals, targets, and directions for the next five years.

Accordingly, for the 2023-2028 term, the Trade Union of the Transport Sector will continue to innovate the content and methods of trade union activities; strengthen the protection of the legitimate rights and interests of union members and workers; improve the quality of propaganda and education work; promote patriotic emulation movements associated with studying and following the thoughts, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh; develop union membership and establish grassroots trade unions; improve the capacity of trade union officials at all levels; build a strong trade union organization, contributing to building an increasingly strong working class, worthy of being the core force and leading in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.

The Executive Committee of the Thanh Hoa Transport Sector Trade Union, term 2023-2028, was introduced at the Congress.

In a spirit of democracy and responsibility, the Congress elected the Executive Committee of the Thanh Hoa Transport Sector Trade Union for the 2023-2028 term; elected delegates to attend the 20th Thanh Hoa Provincial Trade Union Congress for the 2023-2028 term; and elected delegates to attend the 11th Vietnam Transport Trade Union Congress for the 2023-2028 term.
