Speaking at the program, Dr. Nguyen Quoc Cuong, Principal of Thu Dau Mot University, said that the highlight of this program is that lecturers have access to and use microchip design software and the teaching content focuses on practical knowledge that is truly useful for retraining students, ensuring that after completing the course and passing the thorough quality test, students can immediately start working at microchip design companies and this is also what large companies and corporations in the microchip field in the world want when recruiting.

The 2-month training course is for lecturers of Thu Dau Mot University, directly trained by experts from Sun Edu and Microchip Technology Corporations. During the course, lecturers will be guided and supported by experienced experts and have access to the entire library and teaching materials of large corporations such as Synopsys and Cadence. From there, it is possible to build a practical microchip design curriculum for future teaching.

At the opening ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Anh Thi, Head of the Management Board of Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park, said that the global semiconductor industry has grown by 14% per year since 2001 and is still growing strongly, expected to reach 1,000 billion USD by 2030. At the same time, this industry needs to add nearly 1 million workers. Mr. Thi commented that the Southeast region of Vietnam has a lot of potential to develop this industry, Ho Chi Minh City alone needs to train and improve skills for about 40,000 engineers from now to 2030, or about 6,000 engineers/year; followed by Binh Duong province with a lot of potential to develop human resources for this industry.

“I welcome the initiative to cooperate in training between universities and enterprises to develop human resources in the field of semiconductors, specifically between Thu Dau Mot University and Sun Edu International Education Joint Stock Company, the Management Board of Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park. This can be said to be a good model, a shortcut in linking high-quality human resource training to meet the immediate and long-term requirements of semiconductor human resources of Binh Duong province in contributing to realizing the Government's goal of 50,000 engineers by 2030 for the semiconductor industry”, said Mr. Nguyen Loc Ha, Vice Chairman of Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee.
