According to information from the Hanoi National University Examination Center, the earliest exam in 2025 is expected to take place on March 15-16 with a scale of 10,000 students. Candidates can start registering for the exam from February 8.
Regarding the location, the exam will take place in many provinces and cities such as Hanoi, Thai Nguyen, Hai Phong, Nam Dinh, Hung Yen, Hai Duong, Thai Binh, Thanh Hoa, Ha Tinh, Da Nang... the exam locations for each period will be announced later.

In 2025, the structure of the HSA exam will be adjusted to suit teaching and learning according to the new general education program, with comprehensive exam questions and practical problems. In particular, the questions in the exam will not be arranged from easy to difficult but will be randomly shuffled according to a fixed matrix.
Specifically, the HSA exam structure in 2025 consists of 3 parts, of which two compulsory parts are Mathematics and Data Processing, Literature - Language.
The Mathematics and Data Processing section consists of 50 questions, which candidates must complete in 75 minutes (with 35 questions in the form of 4-choice multiple-choice questions and 15 fill-in-the-blank questions). The content is in the fields of algebra and some elements of analysis, geometry and measurement, statistics and probability.
The Literature - Language section consists of 50 multiple choice questions, which candidates will complete in 60 minutes. The questions use materials related to many areas of life such as literature, language (vocabulary, grammar, communication activities, language development and language variations, writing), culture, society, history, geography, and art.
In the Science or English section , candidates can choose one of the two with a time limit of 60 minutes. In the Science section, candidates can choose three out of five topics: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History and Geography. Each topic has 17 questions (including one test question). The English option consists of 50 multiple choice questions designed for admission to foreign language training programs.
The test score is calculated based on the total number of correct answers, and no points are deducted for incorrect answers. In the official test, the score achieved on the computer will appear after the candidate finishes the test. Candidates can use the sample test to familiarize themselves with the test format, review additional knowledge and skills, and practice time control when taking the official test in 2025.
The Hanoi National University Aptitude Test is one of the two largest private exams in the country. About 90 universities use this test score for admission.
In 2024, the Hanoi National University's competency assessment exam will be held in 6 sessions, starting from March 23 to June 2 at 19 testing locations.
Statistics on the number of candidates in provinces and cities taking the exam in 2024 show that, except for Hanoi, Nam Dinh is the province with the largest number of registered candidates, followed by Thai Binh, Thanh Hoa, Hai Duong, Nghe An, Hung Yen, Hai Phong, Vinh Phuc, Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, etc.
The total number of registrations in 2024 was more than 104,000, of which 96.2% of candidates attended the exam and 21 candidates were disciplined for violating regulations.
