Phenikaa University in the top 8 of the Asian Education Awards: Affirming the position of Vietnamese higher education

Notably, this year Phenikaa University is the only representative of Vietnam nominated, and is also the youngest university to be on the nomination list for both of the most important categories: Technology or Digital Innovation of the Year and Teaching and Learning Strategy of the Year.

In the category of “Technology or Digital Innovation of the Year”, Phenikaa University was highly appreciated for developing a comprehensive digital platform, integrated in all areas: administration, admissions, training, research, human resources and student services. The highlight is that the school has autonomously built the entire internal technology system from AZ, including the ERP management system, smart security gate (Smart Gate), digital learning platform and cashless payment system. This “in-house” strategy is considered one of the key factors that helped Phenikaa University score strongly with the jury.

In the context of the number of students enrolled and the training scale increasing more than 20 times in just 5 years, from more than 300 students in 2019 to nearly 25,000 students in 2024. The school's digital system is constantly being innovated, contributing to ensuring fairness and efficiency in the entire management process. In 2024 alone, 99% of nearly 9,000 new students gave positive feedback about the online admission experience.

In the category of “Teaching and Learning Strategy of the Year”, Phenikaa University was recognized for its strong shift from traditional teaching methods to an interdisciplinary, modular learning model. This approach helps students develop systematic thinking and improve their ability to apply knowledge into practice, especially in the field of health sciences. With the model of “learning by doing”, students of the School of Medicine and Pharmacy (Phenikaa University) have been exposed to reality right from the first year through experiences at the hospital system, satellite clinics and pharmaceutical factories.

In addition, from December 2024, Phenikaa University Hospital will officially come into operation. In addition to its medical examination and treatment functions, the hospital also plays an important role as a place for practice and internship for students, especially those majoring in health sciences. This is considered one of the outstanding advantages that helps students both study and practice professional skills in a practical environment right at school.

The success at THE Awards Asia 2025 has put Phenikaa University on par with leading names in the field of regional higher education, such as: National University of Singapore (Top 3 in Asia, Top 17 in the world); Nanyang Technological University (Top 4 in Asia); Hong Kong Polytechnic University (China) (Top 15 in Asia); Chulalongkorn University (Thailand) - the oldest and most prestigious university in Southeast Asia and Singapore Management University... This is not only the pride of Phenikaa, but also a strong testament to the potential and quality of Vietnamese higher education on the regional and international academic map.

THE Awards Asia is an annual award organized by Times Higher Education, first launched in Asia in 2019. This award aims to honor the achievements and excellence of universities, especially those factors that are not fully reflected in general rankings.

THE Awards Asia builds on the prestigious THE Awards in the UK (launched in 2007) and has quickly become the “Oscars of higher education” in Asia.
