On the afternoon of April 22, Dr. Nguyen Van Huy, Vice Principal of the University of Foreign Languages ​​(Hue University), said that the unit has just opened a new undergraduate major code called American Studies.

Accordingly, Hue University of Foreign Languages ​​is one of the first two higher education institutions in the country to open a training program in American Studies, after being licensed by the Ministry of Education and Training.

Mr. Huy said that American studies was previously a major within international studies.

Students studying this major will be trained and learn about the native language, culture, and history of the United States according to a systematic training program similar to majors such as Japanese, English, French, etc.

"The opportunities for studying abroad and working in this field are relatively high.

American Studies is the first major at Hue University of Foreign Languages ​​where students have the opportunity to do an internship in the United States (8 weeks) and take some courses at James Madison University, Virginia, USA," said Mr. Huy.

After opening the major, Hue University of Foreign Languages ​​plans to enroll about 35 students in the American Studies major for the upcoming university entrance exam.
