"The player I want to bring to the K-League is Xuan Son," Lee Dong-jun, representative of coach Kim Sang-sik, revealed in a short video posted on the YouTube channel "Bgent". In terms of ability and reputation, Nguyen Xuan Son is currently the leading player in Vietnamese football.
Mr. Lee Dong-jun added: "This player has proven himself to have outstanding physical strength and is very strong in collision. I think he has enough qualities to play well in the K.League."
However, this is just an idea. Currently, Xuan Son is recovering from a long-term injury and will have to rest for more than half a year. In addition, this striker also affirmed that he wants to stay with his current home club, Nam Dinh, for a long time.
There have been some players from the "golden generation" of Vietnamese football who tried their hand at the K-League but were unsuccessful. Luong Xuan Truong and Nguyen Cong Phuong both played for teams in the top division of Korea but had very few opportunities to play.
Xuan Son is the top player of Vietnamese football at present.
"Regarding players who have come to Korea to compete like Van Toan, Cong Phuong, Xuan Truong, is it true that they don't have skills? That's not true. They all have good abilities and are competitive enough," Mr. Lee Dong-jun explained. Mr. Lee's company is also the unit that connects these players to Korea.
According to coach Kim Sang-sik's representative, the opportunity for Vietnamese players to make their mark in the K-League is still wide open. Cong Phuong, Xuan Truong and Van Toan have not been successful but have still gained many lessons for themselves as well as their colleagues who want to try the same.
"The biggest problem for these players is that they lack time to adapt, and K.League teams are not really ready to welcome Southeast Asian players. I am not criticizing any individual, it is just that we are not prepared enough.
Of course, time waits for no one, this is a professional environment. Anyway, with all that experience, I think it has great meaning for them. I have faith that, in 3 years, a Vietnamese player will be successful in the K.League," said Mr. Lee Dong-jun.
