National Assembly Delegates of Ben Tre province visited and worked with Ben Tre Province Drug Rehabilitation Center

Full-time member of the National Assembly's Committee for Culture and Society Tran Thi Thanh Lam spoke at the meeting.

At the meeting, the representative of the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department reported on the implementation of policies and laws on drug prevention and control: In the province, the number of drug addicts currently managed by the Provincial Police is 936 people, the number of subjects under management after drug rehabilitation is 568 people, and the number of subjects receiving methadone treatment as of April 2025 is 744 people.

In the process of deploying and implementing policies and laws on drug prevention and control in recent times, in general, the Law on Drug Prevention and Control and detailed guiding documents have been issued relatively fully and promptly, ensuring legality, consistency and feasibility in implementation. Many difficulties in law enforcement have been resolved, especially the work of preparing records to send addicts to compulsory drug rehabilitation.

The representative of the Provincial Drug Rehabilitation Center reported on the operation of the facility since the transfer of the state management tasks of drug rehabilitation and post-rehabilitation management from the Provincial Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to the Provincial Police.

Speaking at the end of the working session, full-time member of the National Assembly's Committee on Culture and Society Tran Thi Thanh Lam acknowledged the opinions of the members and shared the difficulties of the unit.

Through exchanges and reports, the specialized agency provided full and detailed information on the implementation of policies and laws on drug prevention and control in the province and the situation and results of receiving, handing over and operating the provincial Drug Rehabilitation Center.

At the 8th session, the 15th National Assembly issued the National Target Program on drug prevention and control, demonstrating the concern of the Party and State towards building a safe and healthy society, free of drugs, happy people, and sustainable socio-economic development.

Regarding the proposals and recommendations of the unit, the National Assembly Delegation of Ben Tre province recorded, studied, synthesized and forwarded to the competent authority for consideration according to regulations.
