Before the Economic Committee's report on growth indicators slower than the same period last year, notably exchange rates, inflation, gold market... delegates expected to soon have policies to stabilize the situation.

After the first day of the 7th Session of the 15th National Assembly, the new Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man took the oath along with a series of important contents on the socio-economic situation in 2023, early 2024 and personnel work.
On the sidelines of the National Assembly, some delegates expected breakthrough decisions from the session. However, some also expressed concerns about the difficulties of the macro-economy and the need to calculate a roadmap for long-term decisions.
Government is directing closely and in the right direction
Delegate Trinh Xuan An (Dong Nai National Assembly Delegation) assessed that the mid-year National Assembly session of 2024 is very special. Because 2024 can be considered the year of completion of major programs, macroeconomic and social issues are waiting for this session to have answers.
“I think the opinions and decisions of this session will have a great impact on the management work. Especially the report on the morning of May 20 set out many tasks for macro management. According to the report of the Economic Committee, 2024 will be relatively difficult, with indicators slower than the same period last year, in which the most prominent issues are the exchange rate, inflation or gold market that need to be addressed. If we cannot make recommendations, we will face many difficulties in 2024,” emphasized Delegate Trinh Xuan An.
According to the delegate of Dong Nai delegation, although the world market is recovering, at this time businesses are still facing many difficulties, especially people's lives. Therefore, the biggest goal of the macro economy from now until the end of the year is to complete growth; continue to support the business sector.
Regarding the content related to salary policy, Mr. Trinh Xuan An said that the Party's Resolution is available, the National Assembly has given its opinion on the policy, so now we have to design how to make salary practical, reflecting the wishes and needs of the people, civil servants, businesses...

“When meeting with voters, we see two issues: how to reform to ensure income and living standards and to meet the set goal of wages not being lower than current levels. So we need to clarify whether income or wages are lower or higher and on what basis? I think the Government is having very specific solutions and calculations. Because wages will affect life, affect the market, affect inflation... Therefore, wages need to be commensurate with labor. Reform must accurately reflect the needs and aspirations of workers,” said Mr. An.
Particularly interested in the story of the gold market, Mr. An said that this is a conditional business and gold is a special object. According to Mr. An, we should not encourage the conversion of gold bars into commodities and must calculate very carefully, have a more methodical management mindset, although the Government is directing closely and in the right direction, that is, there must be a very thorough summary and evaluation of Decree 24/2012/ND-CP on the management of gold trading activities.
“I think that auctioning to reduce the price of gold is not a good solution, because auctioning does not solve the problem of price. So what does the gold market depend on? According to the law, the market must have supply and demand, and there must be factors that make up the price according to the universal law of the market. If gold is not a recommended commodity, or is too complicated to manage, then either we let the market regulate it, or if necessary, we can discourage the business of owning gold bars. Of course, we need to calculate the roadmap,” Mr. An stated his opinion.
This National Assembly delegate believes that the State should not spend foreign currency to import gold bars to stabilize prices as it is doing now. This is because it is related to the macro economy, exchange rates, management and causes disruption. Therefore, this issue needs to be handled systematically, synchronously and thoroughly.
Expectations and trust for the new National Assembly Chairman
On the sidelines of the parliament, some delegates commented that the issue that voters, the people as well as National Assembly delegates are concerned about at this session is personnel work. How can the National Assembly select and perfect the highest leadership positions of the State, namely the President and the Chairman of the National Assembly?
“We have just passed the election results for the National Assembly Chairman with 100% of the delegates present in the hall in favor. This demonstrates the will and responsibility of the National Assembly delegates not only to the leaders elected today but also the responsibility of ‘the Party’s will and the people’s heart’ in preparing to elect important personnel to run the country,” said Delegate Ta Van Ha (Quang Nam delegation).

Delegate Ta Van Ha expressed his belief that with his practical experience, working experience and management capacity, the new National Assembly Chairman will continue to promote the achievements and innovation results of the National Assembly in the past time as well as continue to have more innovative activities and management.
Mr. Ha hopes that in the coming time, the activities of the National Assembly will become more and more substantive, and will be trusted, loved and highly appreciated by voters and people.
Also placing high expectations and trust in the new National Assembly Chairman, delegate Nguyen Chu Hoi (Hai Phong National Assembly delegation) expressed that the successful election with a high concentration of votes and the oath of office of the new National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man is a new motivation, new confidence, and common joy for voters, people nationwide and for National Assembly deputies.
“Over the past time, we have experienced many opportunities but also many challenges, not only for the common work of the country in the context of a changing world, but also for the National Assembly. Therefore, with the completion of the organization with high trust and confidence, I personally hope that with his capacity and extensive experience, with his age and having held many different positions, the new Chairman Tran Thanh Man will complete the tasks assigned by the Party and the State, as well as the trust of the National Assembly deputies and voters nationwide,” Mr. Nguyen Chu Hoi emphasized./.
